Indy Car COTA March 22-24 Motels / ?
For my Christmas present my 3 son's bought us tickets to the Indy Car race coming to COTA in March 2019. I've been to Austin but never COTA so I'm looking for any recommendations (Motels, parking, do's / don'ts, etc.).
We will be driving down from DFW early Friday morning (3/22) and heading back to DFW after the race on Sunday (3/24).
Thanks in advance for you input.

Hey Mark,
Congrats on scoring a great gift from your sons. Austin has gotten crowded and the traffic is a nightmare most all of the time. Unless you are young enough to enjoy the party scene downtown, I’d avoid the area. You might consider a hotel north of Austin, perhaps Round Rock or Georgetown and then drive the toll road to COTA. You might even consider an Uber or taxi to the race. If you’re familiar with COTA and know the parking areas well, then driving there would be okay, but I’d still take the toll road (130). The Austin North Marriott is actually in Round Rock,Tx on La Frontera Blvd. We live near the La Frontera district in Round Rock. This is a safe area. Enjoy your weekend in March. Hope this helps!

ki,
If you are not taking your Vette or any other car you'd like to cruise out to COTA in, do yourself a favor and stay in downtown Austin. North in Round Rock or Georgetown like Jstan suggested is a good idea too...Timing is everything for downtown...Just be sure to come or go during non-peak times. There are really no hotels near the track. Traffic going into COTA during the big races is bad....Uber or Lyft can be a good option. COTA is located just off the Toll Road 130.
Sixth Street and the surrounding downtown areas offer a great variety of bars, music, dining and entertainment...(If that's what you like)... Lots of nice hotels...All within walking distance.
If you do want to drive a car out to COTA go WAY early and enjoy the scene...

Attended the Indy car race this last weekend at COTA. Had a great time. Me and my boys stayed in Pflugerville, TX at a Marriot Courtyard right off of Hwy 130. Took us about 25 minutes to get to the track each day. Had a great time. We had great seats at turn 12. Really no long lines for anything. Traffic moved good, a bunch of different food/drink choices at the track. Food and drinks were kind of pricey but I expected it.
Overall A+ experience.
