Default Austin, TX peeps!

Hey, there! This post is to halfway introduce myself and also find fellow Austinites.

I am in this predicament where I moved to Austin, TX almost two years ago to work downtown. With the move, I left behind a lot of (all, to be exact) my car friends. Living close-ish to Houston, it was easy to stay connected, do events, and make weekend trips, but now besides staying in touch via text/IG/FB, the usual, I don't really see them much unless I trek a few hours either direction. And more importantly I can't really DO CAR THINGS WITH THEM. That is a problem because I love to DO CAR THINGS. Anyways... Now I just have boring work friends who don't appreciate all things cars, and not to say that they're not just as fun... but they're not really as fun, ya know?

I had a Camaro before that I had built out to be my own, and I just recently in the past 2 months got rid of it for a new (to me) 2017 2LT Z51 stingray. It's great, I love it. Me and Vanta (that's what I named her. Attached a couple of pics) have a lot of fun with just the two of us. We like to frequently drive around, finding new roads and just cruise and enjoy. Sometimes I come up on caravans of vehicles who are obviously part of a group or friends who cruise together, and I get nostalgic remembering the joy that brought.

Pity party over... I need new friends. It's an actual necessity, or I will go insane because of my job. If you haven't already guessed it, my question is how many of you lot live in or around Austin, and like to do car things (clean, drive, DIY, stare at, etc) and would like to link up one weekend?

Clean Ride!

There are groups that get together and do a lot of things in and around Austin.

Look up Sweet Rides of Central Texas, Corvettes of Central Texas and Austin Corvettes. There is a lot a cross-over between the FB groups but you will be informed of just about anything car and Vette related that way.

Lone Star LeMans is this weekend and there will be many Vettes in and around COTA this coming weekend.

PM me for more info and we can exchange contact info.

Welcome to Texas. There are also a couple of vette clubs in San Antonio, including the Texas Corvette Association. They put on a big corvette and other car show in April each year in Boerne. There is a very large cars and coffee each month at COTA (Circuit of the Americas) on the southeast side of Austin. Withing a nice drive are several other cars and coffees, including in Dripping Springs on the last Sunday morning of each month and in Wimberley on the 1st Sunday morning of each month.

Lot's of good suggestions in this thread. +1 on Longhorn Corvette Club. They do autocross, car shows, cruises, and a bunch of other stuff. Other local options if you are into serious autocross are Spokes and SASCA. Awesome looking car btw.

thanks! Lived here. All my life, just not native to Austin haha. Great suggestions, I appreciate them!

yes I've been meaning to go to the cars n coffee at COTA and the one at Oasis. I ran into a bunch of vehicles on a road near Volente the other weekend. Assumed they were either from that or a different Rally.

I have actually done an SASCA sanctioned event or two in my Camaro! I completely forgot about that. Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I look forward to seeing you all out and about.

WEC this weekend at COTA. might be too late to get corvette corral parking (not sure). Come out and see the C8.R race against a couple Porsches, Ferraris, and Aston Martins.

I was there Saturday and Sunday. Didn't do the corral but one day I did park in corral parking (shh!) it was a great time, would have loved to see the c8 perform a bit more stellar compared, but then again it is in a different class and was the first WEC event right? Enjoy this great picture I took.

Lots of things happening North all the time. I use motortexes.com for the latest car related shows and cruise ins.
There is a big car show at the Georgetown Airport Saturday the 29th of February. It will be a good show.
Send me pm and we'll meet sometime.
I have a '81 C3 and a '16 z51 Stingray vert.
