Our Blue Thunder Club does cruises a lot but closer to the Ft. Worth side of town. I don't know the Dallas area all too well but maybe a cruise to surrounding towns might be  ....like Terrell or Wilmer or some place like that ?!?

I have 60 acres near Cedar Creek Lake. I have not been all around the lake, but I have been on some scenic roads around there.
It is just over an hour from Dallas to the lake area (Gun Barrel City). We could end up/meet/whatever at my place. It is nothing fancy - just a weekend mobile home (kind of a guy place - I dust once a year even if it does not need it). Plenty of parking.
I do suggest we wait for cooler weather for this one - it seems even hotter around the lake than here! I guess we can see if there is any interest.

I'm the Ft Worth events coordinator and gonbad is the dallas one. If you guys have some ideas let us know! Cruises are a little risky if not sponsored but a club because of liability.

How do all the other sections do one? Is it just North Texas that has this problem?

C5starman, last year Our Blue Thunder Corvette Club did a cruise that started in south Arlington and headed over that way and ended at the Black Beauty Animal Refuge Ranch around Murchison and we had a blast. There were sure some nice Corvette back roads that we enjoyed to the fullest.

I'm not sure, I guess they just personally take on the liability. But if someone crashes, and you were the one to sponsor...you could get sued and lose your house, your vettes etc.

 why do we need a sponsor...why can't everyone just meet up somewhere hang out for a while (just like getother type of thing) then cruise and then stop at a place to eat or whatever. No one responsible for anything.

I agree no sponsor needed, we used to have cruises all the time in Kalifornia and at worst case have everybody sign a waiver. :yesnod: :yesnod:

I am in for a cruise. :D :D

A cruise is the best way for me to enjoy my Corvette....have done about 10 in the last year or so! Sometimes it is just Mary and me in ours and sometimes it is a group of 8, 10, 12, 14........

Do not think we need a sponsor to get a bunch of people together and drive some place. If that was the case there would be no Cruise-In as I do not think it was sponsored by anyone. Just several groups out to have a fun weekend.

There was Cruise-In I through IV, Winter Jam in Florida, there was also the BBQ at Snowman's.

There are good road just about any direction out of DFW. Could do monthly Cruises and go a different direction each month.

There was also talk at Snowman's aboutmeeting the Houston group somewhere between Dallas and Houston for Lunch and maybe a drive afterwards.

I am still open for something down the to Cedar Creek area and my place. Also have an idea about something towards Houston. Need to check some distances.

Just got word from my son that someone broke into my place down there. Stole a small gun safe full of ammo. Probably thought it had guns in it. Like I would leave guns there. Dirty B*%^&#%. Oh well - didn't take anything else and probably strained a nut getting that safe out of there. I hope :mad

I agree, no sponsor. That's too much of a hassle! We just want to have a relaxing day in our vettes. :steering: :auto:
