Re: Lufkin. TX (IceDragon)
Any Vette people in the Lufkin. TX area?????? I just moved here.
Rich
What in the world are you doing in Lufkin. Just curious since I'm originally from there. To answer your question I think I've seen one other member post here from Lufkin and another from Tyler or Longview area. You can go to the TOOLS drop down above, go to member locator, and find members by zip code.
Welcome to Texas and tothe CF board. There is one guy called Dragracer on here from lufkin. If you like Drag racing check our (Vicious) thread on the Fastest Street Vette in Texas that would be a great time to meet some of the members here from all over Texas.

Steve,
I was just paroled from a life of hell, "living" (read "existing") in Mississippi for the last six years. I took a position at a small rehab clinic in Crockett, TX, however, the town there is just too small a place to live. That left me with Tyler (75 minute commute), College Station (90 minute commute), Huntsville (90 minute commute), or Lufkin/Nacoghdoches only a 35 minute commute.
That's how I ended up in Lufkin, which is only 90 minutes from Houston to the south and Shreveport to the north. Which definitely gives me the oppurtunity to go to a "real town" if I so desire. Anyway, I really like the Lufkin area so far (but I've only been here for a week and a half).
Lufkin is a nice place. You'll like it just fine. Welcome to Texas. You should attend some of the Houson events. Great bunch of Corvette folks there and it makes for a nice cruise. :steering:
My Z is red, but I've only had it out once in Lufkin since I arrived 2 weeks ago. They are doing construction on the main entrance to Brookhollow subdivision (where I live) and I don't want my car to get filthy driving through the road debris.
On a side note, on the one night I took out the Z, I was at the traffic light on 94 heading west just under the loop, when a 91-92 Trans Am comes flying around the corner off of the west side frontage road to go east on 94 towards Lufkin. I don't know what the hell the guy was thinking, but he ran his entire driver's side into a pole and the island. The car actually managed to finish the turn and travel approximately another 100 yards. This car was hammered majorly. The front tire was laying on its side( broken ball joint or axel, I guess).
The guy was apparently OK. So, as I'm driving away my wife turns to me and says its your fault that guy wrecked. She says it was because he was too busy checking out the Z to see where the hell he was going.
So, I haven't had the Z out again since.
One more question, I have seen one other Z in town. It's black, anyone know who it belongs to???

Re: Lufkin. TX (IceDragon)
  I'm sure you know by now 94 goes into Trinity county which is "WET", i.e., booze country. Not the safest road to be on late at night.
