My 65 Coupe was hit in the left rear two weeks ago. The insurance company is giving me a hard time with repairing my car. The initial estamate is over $4,600. It was hit hard enough to causr the paint on the roof of the car to crack.
What do I need to do, to prove to the insurance company that the car, even after repairs, is no longer worth what it was prior to being hit.
Thanks
Ouch! That hurts. In my opinion, you should have an attorney familiar with the Zen of Corvette ownership. Your attorney should handle all communications with their insurance company. For your vehicle, dimished value is everything. The value of a clean '65 is far above any insuranced company's idea of the depreciated value for a 1965 vehicle.
In my opinion, talk to a knowledgable lawyer, get him all the info on dimished value. Turn him loose on them.
Progressive Insurance feels as I should pay for some of the repairs, since I didn't use a body shop of their choice.
I talked with a couple lawyers yesterday. Since I wasn't injured, they have no interest in thaing the case. I was told my expense would be far more than I would as far as repairs and diminished value.

DO NOT let progressive push you around. You are not responsible for any money since you didn't use a shop of their choice. The law is that you can take it to where ever you want to get your car fixed. What they are trying to do with you is called steering and is illegal. You are a claimant, they have to repair your car to pre accident condition. Stand your ground against Progressive, they are one of the worst insurance companies around for paying for a proper repair. I don't see your car getting fixed for 4600 dollars either. I have been in the collision business for 20 years now, if you have any questions about getting your car repaired feel free to PM me. I would not get your Vette repaired at any old shop, I would take it to someplace that specializes Corvettes. Like maybe a restoration shop.
