If so, a reassuring communication would be in order.

Actually, I would almost prefer that lack of funds would be the
reason. At least I would feel somewhat better that I'm not getting
screwed because he's an A-hole. I'm not name-calling here, just
using this as an example.

If he has bad dealings with his vendors (IE, the powder coater)
and doesn't pay his bills, there could be an issue there as well.
As said, you may be a perfectly satisfied customer and based on
that, you have every good intention of supporting him.
As with me for example, there were plenty of very happy customers
of Warranty Gold with their extended warranty coverage.

I, on the other hand, got taken for $1400 and no coverage.

So based on others' recommendations, all should have been OK.

Amen, brother!! As a successful business owner myself (Non automotive), if someone was unhappy with me and my business, and was posting on a forum read around the world, as this one is, and I was working hard to resolve the matter between the unhappy customer and me, 3 things would be happenin': 1- I would be mighty concerned that my name was rapidly becoming a place N-O-T to do business, and 2: I have NEVER taken 8 months to resolve an issue between my business and an unhappy customer! And 3: I would be a Postin'!! And I DID fire my sister once!! It happens! But my customers were-and are, number 1!! If I was Vince Lombardi, I would have to say something like this: Customers aren't everything, they are the ONLY thing- if ya' wanna stay in business. There is no excuse for a time lapse of this nature/length-PERIOD!!!!

I've sent Mark an e-mail asking him what's up on this unresolved issue as well as on his use of the Forum for commercial sales. It was my impression that his supporting vendor relationship with the Forum ended on Aug. 27, 2004.

Meanwhile, please be reminded that Forum rules allow for the factual posting of an unresolved dispute with another member or a vendor so long as every effort has been made to resolve the issue offline first.

Once the factual post has been made, moderators try to leave it open until anyone with first-hand knowledge has a chance to offer his/her version of the facts.

Once that has been done, the thread is locked and goes into the archives where it is available for review at any time in the future.

Moderators will lock a dispute thread before all sides have given their set of facts if the thread becomes a bash-fest or it becomes a running and repetitive debate.

I believe this thread is a perfect example of informing and "statement
of fact" as I've ever seen on this forum.

And commissuration here, is often our only outlet to vent.
Besides, it far less expensive than a psychologist.

Well...., let me add my problems with Mark Dawson.

Here are THE FACTS:

- I ordered rotors for my ZR-1 during the January GP that Mark Dawson posted on the forum as a vendor . It is nearly 3 months since the order was placed.

- He has had my PayPal now for several weeks.

- I have called and email several times. Sometimes I get an answer, most of the time I do not.

- He always has some excuse as to why my rotors haven't been shipped (vendor can't provide blanks, fired my daughter, zinc coating isn't good, can't find J55 front blanks....etc., etc.).

- He (or his worker) also has told me more than once that the rotors, "Will be FedEx in the morning!"

- As of last week I asked for a refund during a phonecall and was told, "Will be FedEx soon....."

Again - THE FACTS - Mark Dawson entered into this forum with an offer for a Group Purchase for items (and this is important) that HE DID NOT HAVE!

I have given up on having these rotors anytime soon....., if ever!

Pewter99 - Unfortunately, I am intimately familiar with previously posted explanations.
Grinder11 - My business is also non-automotive but I very much share your work ethic and thoughts on dispute resolution. I run my business fully cognizant of the fact that it is a direct reflection on myself. Thank you for your support.
Savewave - Understood. Thank you for your effort in assisting with the resolution of this issue. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at your convenience.
Georgec114 - Thank you once again. I believe this thread is unfolding in a manner consistent with established corvetteforum rules and posts from members, like youself, are keeping it professional.
Inger67 - Thank you.
DMark - For a moment there, I thought it might be Mr. Mark Dawson (aka VNM aka 30yeardream) under a different corvetteforum name. I share your empathy. Thank you for your post.

I really do not want to take the focus off of the larger issue at hand; which is the Wilwood calipers and the value thereof. However with that caveat, I was informed by my credit card agency that disputes are typically made during the current billing cycle and prior to their releasing the funds, but in any case cannot be filed after 3-months. I requested to be sent the dispute forms anyway. Thank you for your follow-up.

I understand the potential impact and for that reason I have, and will continue, to state explicitly: Over the years I have had positive experiences with dozens of corvetteforum members and vendors. I believe this issue to be the exception and not the rule and I will continue doing business with members and vendors alike. Thank you for your support.

Ok, i'll admit that i was wrong. It seems there have been a lot of issues with him that i haven't read about. It seemed logical to me that he would take care of all of you guys the way he took care of me. I hope everything works out in the end

He only purchased the product. The vendor is the one that hurts other's vendors reputations.

Most intelligent people will look at this and realize it is isolated to a specific vendor. I don't believe it will have a drastic efffect on other vendors. This wasn't his intent. I am glad he shared this experience with us. He is obviously not the only one having issues - there are a dozen others in the same boat he is in. It helps users like myself who are considering these parts so we don't end up in the same boat as him. For that, I thank him! That is what this forum is all about!

Default Add me to the list

I have posted on another thread about this. I too ordered rotors on the Jan GP. MY card was charged Jan 24th, the day I ordered the rotors. I went with powdercoating as Mark said I would love them. I told him no hurry I had all Winter. Well I got a set of rotors- but they were not powdercoated. I had been told they had been sent to powdercoat and then told they had not. So I helped Mark out and sent them on to a guy in ILL who had ordered. So someone in Darien Ill can thank me for him getting his rotors. So I wait some more. Call Mark or whoever answers. I get his daughter. Parts are at powdercoates. Get another set at house in March. Guess what- No powdercoating!!!! Call, daughter says really sorry, send them back and she will email or talk to me daily. Guess what- nothing. I have emailed and left voice mails- nothing. I even put a post here- Longing for rotors.
So it have been all most 3 months and two wrong shipments and many lies. I can understand personal problems, but it is the lies that gets me.

I dont think Dan (Crazy C5 Cowboy) was saying that making a post like this hurts other vendors reputations. He was saying that a vendor treating a customer like this hurts other vendors because it makes forum members hesitant to deal with other supporting vendors.

I think Dan realizes this and I think it was probably misinterpreted by you. But I understand how you might have come to that conclusion.
