Default Bad experience with ported throttle Body

I bought ported throttle body off of Ebay. It arrived in a Katech box. I asked the seller if it was ported by Katech and he said yes. Whether it was actually ported by Katech is unknown.
I installed it and almost immediately I was experiencing strange behaivor. During normal acceleration, power would suddenly increase around 2500 rpm. Using HP Tuners I data logged the issue and it showed very low ignition advance of 5° to 2500 rpm then suddenly jump to 38°. I was not able to tune it out, so I put a stock throttle back in. Problem solved.

It is my opinion, its not worth changing from the stock to a ported throttle body.

Here is a picture of the stock throttle body.

That looks like the Ktech TB as theirs has the flattened rod that the butterfly pivots on.

I have a Katech, and also have a Halltech CAI and Formato (Faster Proms) ported intake manifold. My car is not turned, but I do have a Borla X-Pipe. I do not have any of the issues you describe. The biggest thing I have noticed is that my throttle response in E and Touring is definitely much better than stock. Overall Vette (Z51 A8) runs great!

Sorry it isn't working for you.

I have personally installed both the WeaponX and SoCal Porting ported LT1 throttle bodies and both perform flawlessly with zero off behavior or side effects.

Log the torque management, I have seen a similar problem but by another rootcause. It was the tqmng removing timing. In my particular I solved the issue by lowering the MAF in that particular area.

We logged Torque Management and determined it was retarding timing but were not able to pinpoint which table was causing that.

My car has a ported intake manifold, K&N filter, and ARH mid-length headers. Runs now extremely well on the stock throttle body and timing looks normal again.

I don't think my system is retarding the timing. Of course, I am running the stock tune. Before I added the Borla X-pipe, I ran a 11.8 (Stock 20" RF's) when it was 79-80 outside on a sunny day(hot asphalt temps) with a DA of between 1300 & 1500 at a track that is only 30 alt (Bradenton, FL). Lanes were extremely sticky all the way down as my best trap speed was 116. The 3 intake mods also sound really cool!

I check the box and it shipped from Katech so I'm sure its Katech's work.

The one from BER don't look like he ports as much metal out of it. The other one has some major work at the back of it. The BER one looks good and has some nice polishing work also.

On the lower RPM range have you work in the V table on it in the HP tuners. Robert

Keep in mind that Bo leaves some of the factory lip in place. Everyone has their own theories, but my personal opinion is that if I'm doing a ported throttle body I want it completely worked over for the smoothest flow possible.

Even though you didn't buy the throttle body from us directly I will exchange it for you.

I have Bo White's ported throttle body on my 2014 Camaro SS LS3, no issues at all, works great... improved throttle response and acceleration...
