I was just scammed. please read and be cautious
I had posted a WTB post looking for a transmission and like a fool included my phone number to text pics and info to. well a person texted me claiming to be a member here (gave me a phony username that happens to be a respectful member) we struck a deal and I paid him half (250 dollars) once payment was made I never heard back from him. he then rejected all my calls and pretty much disappeared. I do have his name listed on his paypal account. long story short, please be cautious. I was hoping to have the trans put in for my wedding but now, im not sure this is going to happen. I do believe in karma but man, what a bummer.

Hopefully, you sent the money through Paypal using the "Paying for Goods and Services" option.... there is a list of items that are covered, just contact Paypal. If you use "friends and family" to send the money, you are out of luck.

So sorry to hear that brother, wish you could lay hands on this scumbag!
Hopefully you will be able to get a tranny soon.
If not here, maybe a forum vendor like Vettenuts can take care of you.
This is sad, but should be a lesson to us all. Never post your contact info in a thread. Only share it via Private Message.

Don't ever, ever send money with the "friends and family" option through paypal. If you use the other option for "goods and services" you have far better fraud protection. One of the red flags on scammers is they will often try to persuade you into paying them with the "friends and family" option. I just tell them you are neither my friend nor my family so either goods and services or no deal. If it is someone real wanting to do a legitimate sale, they will gladly accept your payment through goods and services because it gives them protections as well.
I also recommend going to your bank or calling your credit card company that made the payment and dispute the charge. You have a good chance of getting it reversed and it will be paypal's problem to get their money back. I would be willing to bet once they are out of the money, they will put a little more effort into trying to get it back from the scammer.

Even when I buy stuff here and seller wants me to use "Friends and Family" option to avoid fees, I still use "Goods and Services" option and just add 3% to total. Plus, I always use the cc option thru paypal as I never leave money in paypal account.. Good luck in getting your money back..

go to your bank asap they will get your money back, just happend to me last week. Paypal would not help me due to family/gift so i went to my bank & told them what happend & they filled a “ ACH reversal” the same day my money was refunded to my account.
Hope this helps, and you get your money back!
