There is a custom steering wheel vendor on Ebay called "Ledermanz" out of Latvia. I purchased a custom wheel from them under the promise I would have it in 2-3 weeks. In reality it took almost 3 months to receive and then the stripe in the middle of the wheel was not centered. Asked the vendor to make the necessary repairs and they refused unless I paid them to remake the steering wheel. Absolutely unprofessional and a lesson learned the hard way on my part.
The company in question has over ten years of history on Ebay with excellent reviews, so the gamble seemed reasonable. Believe it or not a lot of custom leather goods come from Eastern Europe and I have had excellent luck with most of the vendors. Below is the link to the steering wheel I purchased and the only thing wrong with it was the center stripe which was off center. Obviously, this kind of flaw is extremely noticeable and I was not willing to leave it on the car as-is.
The picture on the Ebay posting is the wheel they sent to me. If you look closely enough you will notice the center strip is off center. Upon receiving the wheel I contacted them immediately and then entered into two months of some of the craziest dialog I have ever had with a vendor. I really believe the owner of this company is di-polar. The short of the story is they refused to make the repairs along with some very colorful language.
From the eBay listing... (lower portion with "details")
Turnaround for this listing 4-5 weeks. (you have to wait a little bit yes - but will get one of a king steering wheel)
And if one reviews their 100% positive feedback, it's amazing the time frame for all the glowing reviews/feedback -- many with horrible grammar/spelling (hmmmmm) -- they must be doing a heck of a lot of business!
Amazing service offered, but you asked to remake the steering wheel for free of charge in another design.
Why you are lying here to people? We have responded same day when received your core - an automatic reply told us you are on vacation for 2 weeks!
Also you got your FULL refund and you got your steering wheel.
Ledermanz is not in need to fabricate anything.
Our 10 year reputation is clear and visible. Only one bad rewiev, from YOU!
We make amazing exclusive masterpieces, but, NOT for free of charge for sure.
For you we did All as required. When after receiving your amazing wheel you found 0,1mm difference in 12 o'clock band(that's normal for hand made and not vissible), anyway we offered repair for free of charge for sure. But you opened a case in PayPal and threatened us. You asked not only to repair but also change the design for free of charge (but this is all works from zero needs to build new wheel) Case was opened and you asked for a new wheel, only then case be closed you said. We saw a tipical scam mr.Schmit, but you also writing rewievs here. Very interesting and funny.
I've been doing eBay for some time, nothing about their history yells scammer to me. It doesn't look like a bunch of phony feedback from employees, most of their feedback is from people with numerous transactions. While feedback history isn't exactly like it used to be since it falls off after a year, going a year with -0- negative feedback seems pretty good.
From their comments here, apparently you are actually a customer, so I'm curious if you're on here complaining why isn't there negative feedback on eBay from you? I sense we're not getting the whole story.
I have received a note from the OP who said he had information that had not been included in this thread:
The vendor "Ledermanz" aka "Eric Crow" lied in his response that I was refunded the purchase price and also kept the steering wheel. There was absolutely zero refund and the steering wheel ended up being used and nothing more than a core for another company to repair. This transaction was a complete loss on my end and it is hilarious that individuals from Latvia joined the forum under an assumed name "Eric Crow" trying to defend their shady business practices. They are still trying to sell C6 steering wheels on eBay, so there is still a risk of other forum members taking a similar loss.
I would share some additioanl info here. Looks like this guy (chevyave aka David Schmitz) want tarnish our reputation. Again, we did refund him in full and he got his product. We have no money and no item from that transaction. He asked to remake the wheel in other design for free of charge because he did not like something. This is not acceptable.
