TLDR: IF YOU COME ACROSS PAUL09 OR rxxmzz10@gmail.com OR https://movehubexpress.online . ITS A SCAM, STEER AWAY !

IF ANYONE HAS BEEN THROUGH A CLAIM WITH PAYPAL PURCHASE PROTECTION, PLEASE HELP ME WITH ANY USEFUL INFO DEALING WITH THEM.

I was scammed by the user Paul09. He reached out to me for my WTB post for a Corsa/Borla X-pipe (https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...e-60547-a.html) .
The guys sent me his email (rxxmzz10@gmail.com) and sent me pictures (attached) that looked legit for a Corsa X-Pipe. He asked for $300 and I negotiated to $200 and $100 shipping. He supposedly went out to a shipping store to check the price for shipping after work. I asked him the address he would be shipping from and he gave me this:

My stupid *** never looked the address up, its a big Commercial building in Chicago. I sent him the money through Paypal Purchase Protection. I am yet to start a dispute with them.

He said he had sent the package using the website (https://movehubexpress.online) . THIS WEBSITE IS FAKE ! They update bogus shipping information. I got to the conclusion that this is a scam when I asked the shipping company for a status on my package.

They said its 30 minutes away, but I have to pay $450 for 'protection of both sides'. I kept asking for an explanation for this charge bu they kept repeating the same quoted reply. I replied that I will pay the money and they asked me to send money to their Western Union, with the name of Lisa pereira.

A quick WhoIs lookup on google for this shipping company tells you that the domain 'movehubexpress.online' is registered in the country Nigeria. That is the end of story, thanks for reading.

Wow thanks for the heads up. He just contacted me about diffuser fins on my WTB ad. Same email same everything. I thought it was very weird that he asked to be emailed. And then in his email reply he put his address for no reason.

 

This guy has posted on other forums like AudiWorld as well. He makes new accounts and replies to people wanting to buy. Here's some examples:

I'm still in communication with him over email, where he still claims he hasn't scammed me and he really did send the part. He keeps insisting he's on 'holidays' and wouldn't answer any phone calls on the phone number he put up on the bogus shipping website. Phone # 337-208-7253

 

Yep, tried to scam me by replying to my WTB add by directing to me to ‘some guy he met’ on audi world who coincidentally posted a for sale ad of exactly what I was looking for 3 hours after my post here.

I was very confused why someone would be selling corvette parts on an Audi forum and did some digging and found the same names/email addresses used on both sites.

******** to the next degree.

 

The lesson to be taken from this is that the OP used Paypal Purchase Protection. He's protected. Whenever one is buying something and the seller insists on using friends and family WALK AWAY. There is zero protection with Paypal friends and family.

OP - file with Paypal immediately. Give them all the info you have.

 

I cannot say this enough times.

When a seller suggests you use F & F, tell him you prefer to use the regular payment option and you will pay the 3%. (Consider this in your purchase price negotiations) If he insists you use F & F anyway, you are about to be scammed out of your money; end the deal there.

 

When dealing with people that are a bit skeptical always ask for a pic of the part with an odd item. Hopefully you get your money back.
