Recently purchased a set of leather “overlays” for the steering wheel spokes (covering the buttons). When I received them they appeared to be good quality & matched the leather on my custom steering wheel well, however, the pieces had a backing on them & then double-sided tape on top of that backing.

Unfortunately, with the backing the pieces did not fit flush on the spokes & the steering wheel buttons were then inset under the leather pieces. If it would’ve been just the leather, they would’ve fit fine. I contacted APSIS via pm & they are very quick to respond. My options were to send my items back and purchase their core exchange item (new buttons covered in leather) then send my buttons back. Or I could send back the leather overlays for a refund less 25% restocking fee.

The leather overlays were advertised on the forum for $98. APSIS charged an additional $18 for shipping via USPS that cost them $10 (displayed on the shipping label). Pretty big mark up for shipping.

I paid $8 to ship the pieces back & APSIS refunded me $73.50 of the original $116 I paid. So all told I paid $50.50 for shipping and a “restocking fee” of 2 small leather pieces that didn’t fit as advertised.

Had I chosen the 1st option; sending the overlays back then purchasing the leather covered buttons then sending my cores back, I would’ve ended up paying over $50 simply in shipping for the parts.

1. 25% restocking fee is excessive, especially for the item that were sold.

2. They should be upfront with their return policy.

Just be aware that if the pieces you order don’t fit you may be responsible for return shipping and an excessive restocking fee.

Return policy is on our web. Also it states in the invoice. Please check again. We don’t mislead customers.

We offer you option to exchange to core exchange one and keep same deep discount price. Originally you wanted to go for it but then you decided to cancel the order. Thanks God we haven’t made new one for you yet otherwise we will be screwed.

Since we didn’t make any mistake in our end so we have to excuse restocking policy.

To clarify:
I didn’t purchase off your website but through a thread that was posted here on the forum. There was no mention of the return policy in that thread.

I didn’t receive an invoice, only a payment request through PayPal & a confirmation of payment sent also through PayPal, neither of which state the return policy.

As I stated previously, I was offered the option to purchase the core exchange set for an additional $30 + another $18 shipping fee + $100 core charge that would be refunded when I returned the cores. After doing the math I would’ve paid over $52 in back & forth shipping + the $128 for the leather caps, which to be honest is way more than the small pieces are worth.

The fact of the matter is the pieces did not fit properly, and because of that my opinion is a 25% restocking fee is a bit excessive. Everything I’ve posted is factual and is simply a caution to other forum members. Thanks.

Vendor has responded. Further back and forth can go on offline. If there is a change in the final resolution, the OP or the vendor can let me know and we will post it.
