Default Ecklers

I didn't want to derail another thread where comments regarding Ecklers were posted but I did want to share some experience regarding them. When I first purchased my vette, they were a small shop specializing in interior parts, specifically seats, door panels and dash pads. I took a tour of their facility in case I would need any of these parts as I restored my car. As it turned out, I didn't need any of their products at the time. Over the years their business model changed and they no longer produced their own parts and became a vendor for parts from other sources. Among those was a lot of bling and such. I did purchase the odd part now and then from them but mainly went straight to the source for most items as they did not have much in stock.

Over the years I purchase from T Michaelis, Mid America, Corvette America, Wilcox Corvette, Volunteer Vette, Long Island Corvette, Corvette Central, Chicago Corvette Supply and of course Jegs and Summit as they came online. Sadly I lost a fair amount of money on an order with T Michaelis when they went bankrupt many years ago but I believe they may still be in business.

But over the last 5 years or so, Ecklers has undergone a considerable change in their business model, becoming a source for many classic car parts other than corvette with a huge warehouse. Since they are only a few miles from me, it's convenient to purchase from them and save shipping costs from other vendors. And when price checking, I find them competitive with the few remaining sources in the Corvette aftermarket and generally have just about anything I've needed in stock.

So this is all to say if you've written them off due to earlier impressions, you might consider having another look and especially if you have other classic cars. I'm not advocating for them or defending them from their rightly earned image of years ago, just informing others that they are worth a look.

Not to mention that they're a reasonable drive for either one of us.

I had one of their one piece, hand laid front ends on my '65 to repair some bad damage to the front of the car. Mind you this was in 1986 when finding correct press molded panels was dang near impossible. The exterior appearance was perfect. Never had any complaints about their stuff.

Also not to mention they are within spitting distance of Dixie Crossroads with the best shrimp and hush puppies for 100 miles in any direction. And, if you're nice to the Eckler's counter guy he'll give you a discount coupon for your meal there...

Nice if you live in Florida down the road from Titusville. Otherwise, as has been noted previously by other members, their shipping charges are exorbitant, more than other suppliers...
