SCAMMER ALERT!
I want to make forum members aware of a recent scam attempt made towards me on this forum. In response to a want ad I have on this board, I was contacted by a party with the handle TheCorveterinarian. Yesterday I received the classic CF email alerting me to a private message. I clicked the link to open it up to see the message like we are instructed in the email. I began an email conversation with him regarding the part and then he starts texting me on my cell. How he got my number, I don't know. The deal began to get sweeter and sweeter and I started smelling a rat. After I begged off, he continued to text and sweeten the deal.
There is no record of this member on this forum according to the search I did this morning. There is also no record of his PM to me in my message folder. The guy is a total scam. Beware. This platform is not 100% scam-proof. No indictment of the forum, just a fact of life. My takeaway is if you're buying something here, be sure it's a member and he/she has a traceable background. and how you pay has buyer protection. Scam techniques are developing faster than any platform can keep up with. "Buyer Beware" has never been as important.
That was yesterday. This morning I opened up another PM from "CF" that said my account had been suspended due to a scam. It instructed me to open a link ".....transactions". I wrote to the ADMINS here and was told I was the target of a hack. No place is sacred. Watch your six.
Update: Admins have responded and verified this guy was a fraud. I've got a cell number he used to text to my phone. If it's within the forum rules, I'll post it if I get the green light from Admins just in case he tries again from that number.
