Default C2 Corvette Carpet - Al Knock

Folks,
I wanted to share a relatively pleasant experience with Al Knock Interiors regarding putting carpet in my '67 and maybe clear up some info (or was that just me?). So a couple of weeks ago, after getting my paintwork somewhat fixed I decided to put in new carpet. I have an SRIII chassis so I needed custom carpet for the rear area with the enlarged wheel wells and deletion of the small storage area behind the seats. I figured the stock carpet would be fine for the front driver and passenger compartment. I thought I remembered from reading on the forum that all the carpet was made by the vendor ACC; even Al Knock carpet. Regardless, I wanted the factory 80/20 look so I ordered front carpet from Top Flight that was from ACC. I got it and had the fella who custom made my rear carpet install the front too (and had the rear custom stuff match the factory look). Anyway, fast forward a few weeks and I now have the car back at my home shop and noticed some issues with the front driver's side carpet. It doesn't "lay down" in an area and under the gas pedal he "goofed up" an area. I didn't feel like taking it back to the guy (he's 3 hour a way) so I decided to just buy the driver's side, if I could, and replace it. I contacted ACC and they told me they wouldn't/couldn't sell me just the driver's side; pretty lame if they are the manufacturer. Well then thinking that Al Knoch was a vendor for ACC (but might have some flexibility), I contact them to see if they might help me with just the driver's side. I spoke to a very helpful women (I didn't get her name, but by the voice its the same lady I spoke with just a month ago when I got my door panels). I first asked her if they (Al Knoch) used the same carpet producer as ACC, and she said they did not. She said they had the original molds/tooling (or something to that effect) to create exact reproductions of C2 carpet, all years. And said all is created in-house. Further, she told me she'd be happy to sell me just the driver's side. She even said she'd send me a free sample of the 80/20 carpet to ensure it matched what I have. However after hearing the carpet for the driver's side, with backing, was on just $104.00, I went ahead and bought it. It should match the passenger side 80/20 from ACC (I figured) and anyway, the console breaks it in the middle so even if close, it works. I said all that to say that my experience with Al Knoch as been pretty good. I have purchased leather dash pads, door panels and now carpet from them. Your experiences may vary.
Johnny J.
