I believe I may be a victim of scam on Corvette parts. I purchased some bumpers from Peterson ford and Corvette parts on Facebook marketplace. They are based in North Carolina. I paid for the parts ( bumpers ) and they shipped with Liberty Logistics LLC. the shipping cost was included but then I got a message from Liberty Logistics to pay shipping insurance which was refundable upon delivery. I know I feel dumb but I did pay for insurance and still no delivery. I contacted them regarding delivery date and they said I owed an additional amount for insurance. I told them no way, Ive never had to do this before. The seller told me they are a trusted shipper but I think they are all the same scammers. I reported them to Facebook and the seller promptly disappeared.
Please be careful with Peterson Ford and Vette parts. Very fraudulent.
Look at their about information
Only a mobile number.
No physical address
A email address that is only Gmail not an actual company URL.
A name change from Atem Officials to the current name.
They blocked you if you no longer see them.
I'll look into for ya, I'll resolve it.... I just need your name, address, social security number and the numbers to your bank account/credit card used to purchase these products.
that's a scam that was used for a long time in the south florida moving market. lowball cost to move, then a secondary "moving" company held your stuff until you agreed to an upcharge for delivery and so on etc. each level just said they were "brokers" and they would make certain the stuff was delivered after their "fee" was paid. in the end when investigated, the AG found it all to be the same company with different numbers, addresses (all fake of course), etc.
it is apparent that facebook does little if anything to vett the "advertisers" that appear in your timeline (or whatever it is). every time i hear these stories, i am so glad that a rarely if ever look at any social media sites for anything reliable.
I've done well buying and selling cars on Facebook Marketplace (with proper 3rd party inspections, etc.) But any time I tried to buy a mass-produced product of any kind; I was ripped off to various degrees. Like others have said, "stay away"!
Lesson learned. What really threw me was I was getting a tracking number from a freight company with a web site and they were part of the scam. Not an excessive amount of money for an item I needed but I will move on. thieves are good at that craft at other peoples expense
