Default Tire Sensor Reset Tool for C6

Can someone tell me where I can buy the tool to reset my tire sensors when I change from my street wheels to my track wheels on my C6 with the z 51 package.

Thanks.

I used to have some I got a good deal on and was able to pass on to forum members at cost, but they're all gone.

You can search on eBay for tools - try "46915" for the Kent-Moore Isuzu tool (although I haven't seen any of those for a couple months); "46079" for the Kent-Moore official GM tool (they are often available, and usually go for $300 +); "Bartec" for tools made by that company (there are several on eBay right now, including the universal Tech 300 for about $280, which will work on all sensors on all makes of vehicles).

You can also call Bartec direct to buy their Trackside Wheelrite for about $200. Check out www.bartecusa.com and click on "products" to see that tool. The problem with it is that it designed to only work on the C6, and when you start spending that much you might want to spend a little more and get a universal tool for your other vehicles (all 2008 model year vehicles will require a TPMS and sensors).

You can also search eBay for "T.I.P.S. Tool" or "inflation switch" and you'll see a number of TIPS Tools available - cheapest is $382. The TIPS Tool is a great tool which is completely universal for all makes/models of vehicles and sensors.

The other alternative is to wait a month or two and see if one of our forum members is able to bring his tool to market. He is in the sensor business and, as a C6 owner, wants to develop a tool and provide it at cost as a service to the Corvette community. He has had some initial success, but needs to bump up the power a little more. If he builds a number of them, he hopes to bring them in for less than $50, but I think anything under 100 bucks would be a bargain.

Hopefully he will have some info on the availability of the tool within the next month or so. He will definitely announce it on the forum if he is able to mass produce a suitable tool.

If you haven't seen my videos, here's a link. When you do get a tool you can reset them easily and quickly:

Default Tire Pressure Sensor Reset Tool

This forum is fantastic. I found all kinds of great information about tire pressure sensor reset tools including some fantastic videos showing how to use the tools.

I followed up today on prices. For those interested in these tools as I am.

The Bartec tool is the least expensive I could find at $199.00. The SOX Kent-Moore tool Part # J 46079 is $630.36. The K-Tool International TIPS tool has a list price of $832.00. I am told it may sell for less through Car Quest, American Tire or NAPA.

I hope this information is helpful.

Call Jim at Wright Tools in Troy Michigan. He can sell you the Bartec Trackside for substantially less than MSRP (MSRP is $199.95). Telephone 248-643-6666 Ext 194. I ordered one last week and expect to receive it this week. I have the same set up and will use it in the same manner. C5 XTC

PM me if you are interested in borrowing a SPX Ment-Moore TPMS J-46079 Tool (for infrequent use, e.g. swapping wheel/tire sets).

I bought a ring magnet which cost $11 for two...super strong. It fits over the valve stem and sets the horn tooting in a snap.

Available at...

Disclaimer: Not sure if the C6 requires a special tool...sorry if I am not up to date.

That will not work on a C6. It does require a special tool.

I've also posted one of my J-46079 TPMS reset tools in the C6 Parts & Accessories F/S section yesterday.

Man, why did that change? I just re-trained my C5 with a large magnet.

I feel sorry for you C6 guys for having to buy some pricey tool to do this.

Why was the design changed so dramatically?
