I have an '80 that I'm planning to upgrade to 17x8 wheels and 255/50/17 tires (the wheel size is a personal preference, and I was told the tire size would be my best bet in making sure there wasn't a huge gap between the top of the tire and the fender)

The chassis has been upgraded with with Bilstein shocks & VB&P GT Suspension springs and sway bars. It serves as a daily driver here in Dallas, where it's warm/hot most of the time, but can also see torrential rain occasionally. I don't autocross it, but I do occasionally drive it aggressively.

Can you give me a couple recommendations for tires in this size that would work well in the scenario depicted above?

255/50-17 tire size .... agreed

tires ... there are only 3 worth considering

#1.) Bridgestone Potenza RE750
#2.) BF Goodrich KDWS
#3.) Kumho Ecsta SPT KU31

I owuld buy the RE750 is it was my $$$
