I wouldn't put much faith in what the specs say. You really gotta see the tires in person to compare. I've read on the forum many times that the Firestones appear to run a bit narrow for their listed size. I have a set of 285/40/17 wide ovals and they considerably more narrow than a set of 275/40/17 MT drag radials I throw on for the track. My guess would be that, regardless of what the specs say, the GYs will be the wider tire.
