Default Goodyear runflats

Just took off my Goodyear runflats and replaced them with some Nitto Invos. Thought I would have some spare tires if needed one day (only had 2800 miles on them). Well I was wrong. Tires had cracks all around the rubber. Almost looked like rubber had rotted or got hard and cracked. Scary to see tires in that shape. They are now on a burn pile.

In terms of years, how old were the GoodYears?

Something doesn't sound right. I have a 2001 coupe, which naturally came with the GoodYears. They're now 8 years old, and although worn, I use them to sit the car on during the winter, on the OE wheels. Since I don't drive on them anymore I haven't looked at them closely, but I don't recall seeing any cracks in them....

Tires should be changed every 5-6 years no matter what they look like. Rubber deteriorates over time, and it cold be dangerous.
