Default 96 coupe M6 tire choices Questions

Hey all Corvette newb here. I'm looking at a nice 96 lt4 coupe with the M6. It has factory staggered wheels as you all know. While doing some home work on the car im thinking about buying I went to tire rack to see what tires cost. For the base coupe there is only 1 tire choice and thats a summer tire.
What are people who are pretty much just dailying their cars running? Are their any high performance all season tires out there? Am i looking at getting different rims to fit tires to? what are you C4 people running?

As far as i can tell, the only two options you have in factory sizes are the Conti Extreme Contact and Nitto NT555 G2. The Conti's are good tires from what i've heard. The Nitto's are cheaper by about a $100, but i'm not sure i would go with them. I had Nitto NT05's when i had my ZR-1, and they were okay tires. Neither tire is an all season. If you post the same question in the C4 section you will get a ton of answers, most people don't really check the wheel and tire section.

Yeah ask on in C4 section. I didn't know the 96 came with a different size tire (255/45R17 and 285/40R17), then my 92/94 did. I run 275/40R17s up to 315/30R17.

For the front, if you go to the 245/45R17 (which was the common size) it is only 0.3" shorter then the 255, and lots more options (15 on tirerack). The 275/40R17 is the same 0.3" shorter compared to the 285/40R17, and have 32 options on tire rack.

As far as WHICH tire to choose, thats up to you and your needs. I just put a set of Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 on my car, for no other reason then I got a set of 4 from Discount Direct Ebay store with $100 manufacture mail in rebate and $100 discount tire mail in rebate. After rebates the set of 4 275/40R17 was $265. They seem quite and deep enough grooves for Oregon rain. IF i want to hit the track I have Hoosiers or BFG Rivals for that sort of thing.

I *just* ordered tires this size for my 96 and will be mounting them Monday.
The Riken Raptor ZR A/S in this size were ~$500 cheaper than the Contis.
The Rikens were ~$365 for the set delivered to my installer.
I am hoping that I will like the looks of it on the stock sawblade rims.

Thank you very much! That’s exactly the information I was looking for

Anthony,

Were you able to find Nittos for the front and the back? I only found 285 Nittos, not 255 too.
