Another cost of new wheels is buying new sensors. I want to keep my stock tires and wheels for who knows why? Anyway seems to me the only purpose of sensors is to tell you you have a tire going down in a runflat. Obviously the tire is so stiff you may not notice it any other way.
If I'm going to non runflats and will carry a patch and aircompressor kit, why do i need the sensors? Yes it could help get to a repair center sooner but other then that is there something I'm missing?
I carry a tire repair kit and compressor in lieu of a spare tire as you mention. I have been doing this with all my performance cars. My current car has four sets of wheels, so wheels sensors would be expensive and impractical. Besides, I don't want the extra weight. My only set of sensors is in storage and for sale.

I had an experience with a flat in Pigeon Forge 2500 miles from home. I run Pilot Sports on 18" Fikse rims. I went out to my car, started driving, and got the "right rear tire flat" warning. With the low profile tires I would not have even noticed until I had either ruined a $375 tire or worse, a rim. As it was, I backed up, used a small air compressor, put in a plug and was on my way.
The air sensors are useful for non runflats too. The technology is there, why not use it. :yesnod:
