have a 2000 with approximately 41k on the original goodyear runflats. only the left front is close to needing replacement but know i'll need some soon and want to buy now. i've settled on getting something besides the goodyears - seems everyone says there are less noisy alternatives. i live in alabama so snow is not an issue. have it down between the kuhmo ecsta runflats and michelin pilot sports. both are rated comparable by tire rack surveys but the kuhmo's are about $300 less per set of 4. does anyone have any experience or recommendations they would like to share? if i go away from a runflat will i have to carry some type of spare?

No, you won't have to. You could carry your AAA card and cell phone, or have a buddy follow you everywhere with a spare in his truck. :jester
Seriously, the C5 has a flat kit available, consisting of an electric air pump and a sealer. If you buy this kit, just be aware that it will only work on a hole up to a certain size....beyond that and it's tow-truck-time.
On the tire question; sounds like your choice is being directed by finances. They are both good tires, but the more you pay, the better the tire will be.
Your call....

Re: recommendations (rocco16)
I have been putting the new Goodyear F1 GS-D3's on many C5's and the owners love them. They are quiet and have an agressive tread pattern, compaired to runflats it is a day and night difference. I have been recommending these to people on the forum before and feel like I rant about them too much but they are great tires for the price and make a big difference when compaired to run-flats. Look them up at the tire rack to see some reviews.
