Default Need wheel sensor modification info!

Will wheel sensors on wheels taken from a 2002 C5 work on a 2000 C5?

I know 2000 wheel sensors will not work on a 2002 DIC, but is the reverse the same?

I am purchasing some wheels and tires from a 2002 C5 and am hoping the wheel sensors will work on my 2000's DIC?????

I have heard the valve stem holes are different sizes. Is there a modification to make my 2000 sensors fit in the 2002 wheels?

How hard is it to break the side of the Run-Flat tires down to get to the sensors so I can switch them?

If they are different in size or weight, will the tire need to be re-balanced????

Can anyone provide me with the part information necessary to make the 2000 sensors fit into the 2002 valve stem holes?

Thanks!

Rob, I do believe that the design of the sensor was changed beginning in the '01 model year, thus an '02 sensor will not function in an '00. The electronics are simply not compatible; it's not just the different valve stem grommets.... Sorry.

That is what I figured....

Since I still have the 2000 wheels and sensors mounted in them, can I take the sensors out and re-mount them in my 2002 wheels?

In other words, will my 2000 sensors fit in my 2002 wheels or do I need to make some type of modification in the valve stem hole?

1997 - 2000 sensors will ONLY work on those year cars
2001 - 2004 sensors will ONLY work on these year cars

As far as I can tell ( didn't get ruler out) wheel dimensions for sensor mounting from 1997-2004 are the same. I have put 1997-2000 sensors on a 2001 wheel w/o issue.
The nut height is a little different between the 2 models sensors but does not effect mounting them

How about the difference in weight (was there any?)?

If there was, did you have to re-balance?

I had them swapped when I put tires on...........you could run them and see if you get any vibtation. Both sensors are light so it may be ok.
