Good work, IHBD.

Looks like it'll be a step-by-step, phase kind of deal, but you're off to a great start on it.

You kind of lucked out (all things considered) with that fog lamp not cracking. I remember replacing one because of an existing cracked lens that it had when I bought the car and the entire bumper cover had to come off. Was my first time removing it.

This morning I got the exhaust system back in working alone. Pretty awkward and heavy, but I got it done without getting hurt or messing up my muffler paint job.

Drove it for errands for the first time in 3 weeks. I bedded in the new brakes and rotors and am pleased with the brakes. The brakes now work well enough to engage the anti-lock on dry pavement for the first time in years. Cool. But the positive experience didn't last long.

I kept getting SES lights. I'd cycle the key and it would go off for awhile but come back on. H36, HiRes Pulses. Are you f-ing kidding me? I replaced this opti in January, and its setting codes 4 months and 5k miles later. It was stalling and long cranking too. At least I know what the stumble and "weird running" was on the last day of the Springfield trip. I filled out the paperwork for the Lifetime Warranty return to Rockauto. I purchased a spare Cardone to carry as a spare, I'll install that one tomorrow and send the bad one back to RA. I can also install the replacement water pump I also got on Lifetime Warranty from O'reilies 3 years ago that is leaking.

This car's reliability is bad enough. And now I'm replacing replacement parts that don't last. Opti (4th one in 3-1/2 years), Alternator (6 months) and water pump. (3-1/2 years, the original lasted 32.)

/RANT=OFF

Before I put the exhaust back up, I took these to put in the car's folder.

1992 6-speed partial VIN stamping. Driver side, exhaust removed.

Took the night off in conjunction with my off days and managed to break her out of the garage since it was a great evening.

Gotta love it when you look under the car, just 'cuz and there it is. A spot. You slap a white paper towel on it, and it's red. ****. You wake up at 5:30 AM and try to go back to sleep, but the thoughts cycle and curl until you jump up in your PJs, head to the garage, side jack and dive underneath with a flashlight.

I just had the thing rebuilt last year!!

Thank you.

I put a Petris in this car shortly after acquisition when the 32 year old Delco died. I drove it for 2-1/2 years in confidence that I had the best opti available and that opti trouble was behind me. But it failed after 2-1/2 years. Their policy for out of warranty units is to fix it for $150. I may do that, and I may not. What I need to do, but won't, is sell this car. Not only is it totally unreliable, it sucks up $100 bills at a voracious rate. I just put $850 of brakes, u-joints and bearings in it. Drove it for 30 minutes, and it is back on the hoist. Madness. Thanks again.

That's the original cornering lamp also? Damn near 'close 'nuff' if you're ultimately selling. Your trip to Altoona is in the '92'? It's for I imagine this NCRS event 6/4 -6/6 2026?

Events

*** top line on the rear is the Dana/Spicer assembly number for the 3.54 GH0

I feel ya, I had mine in my '88 rebuilt about 5 years ago now, and they messed it up twice, having to rebuilt it both times, and then it leaked. They said it was now out of warranty and wouldn't touch it again. I put up with the leak for about 3 years and finally took it to a local shop that said it was the speedo seal and hopefully it's done leaking for now. Good luck with the leak, I hope you get it taken care of soon.

Yes, it is. I have a very nice replacement from Mirrock on the bench. I'll put it in after I'm done with the hood, and decide if I'm going to refinish the bumper or not. Probably not.

Yes. I like driving my cars which is why I drive. Post 9/11, I abhor the TSA and flying commercial. (The 92 gets the best fuel economy. The alternate would be my F250 Diesel, but at 15MPG and $6 a gallon it would be an expensive trip. The 92 is my preference.)

The late C4 National Team Leader Tom Barr passed away last summer. He and I were very close friends. We collaborated on NCRS C4 activities, I stayed at his house when I was in AZ, we shared the room at events, went to dinner together, told the same stories over and over. Like the Skipper and Gilligan for 20 years. The Pittsburgh Chapter was Tom's 'home' chapter. There is going to be a brief memorial celebration in Tom's honor at the Regional. Hence why I'm attending. It's really the only reason I'm going, I don't have any other reason to be there.

I suspected it was something like that. Thanks. Now we all know. Cheers.

Yeah, the fun part is I pulled and took it to the tranny shop, so get I to drop the exhaust and such to see where it really is leaking. If I have to pull the tranny out again....well... !!!!

Is that just regular garden hose that you have on that cat/A.I.R. pipe?
