Default C5 with Z06 exhaust

I have a 2002 C5 convertible with the upgraded Z06 titanium exhaust. I am curious if anybody has swapped out an aftermarket exhaust for this exhaust. Overall, I’m just trying to get a little bit better sound and whenever HP gains I can get(which i know are probably negligible). Appreciate feedback.

Do the muffler bypass to make it louder.
Almost zero performance to be gained on any cat-back.

There is zero power to be had from an aftermarket Cat-Back. As stated above the best option is the bypass mod - but you will need someone who can (TIG) weld titanium to install it
https://trackspecmotorsports.com/col...bypass-mod-kit

This is my car with this exact kit and a X-Pipe which smooths the sound out a bit.

I went big with mine, full custom with centered tips and electronic cutouts, loud when I want it, quiet when I don't.

I will add the caveat that at stock or near stock power levels- there is no power to be gained in the cat back

big power guys, ~800whp and above claim to find power by removing the OE mufflers. Some claiming as much as 30hp gains

+1 on Z06 w/ bypass, because the Ti has a very unique sound to it

I recall years ago one of the IMSA teams did some dyno testing. On their full road racing car they found 12 HP removing the entire rear section. That was with a pretty wild engine.

Zero performance gains, but add a b&b bullet or Corsa extremes if you want it real loud. Corsa sports might be right up your alley. @Ltngdrvr Love that yellow vette, looks great.

The Z06 Ti exhaust is a great piece and I loved having it. Given I do not drive the car a whole lot and I do not anticipate going the cam direction, I wanted the car to be louder so I went the Corsa route. If I was doing more daily driving with it then the Z06 exhaust would be perfect.

This is good advice. A bypass mod will get you more sound if that is what you are looking for.

I went from a Borla "S" Type to the Z06 because my Borla was too droany on the highway. The Z06 sounds good, but a little too quiet. Won't see any gains from the switch.

I transitioned my 500HP C5 coupe from SLP Loudmouth and the singular exhaust tip...
...to a C5 Z06 takeoff exhaust.

It's so much more pleasant for date nights, which is pretty much all I use the car for anymore.

As others have said, no performance gains to be had. That means it all about the sound. The thing about exhaust sound is that it's extremely subjective. What one person loves, another hates. The suggestions above are good starting points, but I would suggest that you listen to a wide variety of different exhaust setups, and then make your decision based on what YOU like.

Something that no one has mentioned are headers. Headers will definitely have a big impact on your exhaust sound, and would definitely add power as well. You could keep the Z06 exhaust and add headers instead. Be aware that will also require a tune though. Good luck!

Just an example of what you can do with the titanium’s and mild upgrades. I have Z06 cat backs and 15” resonators. The graph below shows the results of adding Speed Engineering headers, 3” high flow cats, while removing the stock catalytic convertors. I did have it tuned after the conversion.

This resulted in an increase of 11HP and 20 Lbs of torque. I had previously installed 243 heads and a mild cam (218/226, 587/587), so the difference may be greater on an otherwise stock cam.

The additional torque was quite noticeable seat of the pants and the rpm’s climbed faster and further. My cam was designed for nice around town manners, but a strong torque curve up to 5500 rpm (strictly for mini rips).

That's pretty quiet when closed. No longtubes up front?

I have z06 ti cat back exhaust. With headers and a supercharger, I love the sound. It has a much more supercar sound than a motorboat sound like a lot of aftermarket exhaust.

I actually did the opposite. I dont have any drone but I'm also running long tubes and no cats dont know what your complete set up is. Its loud but not obnoxiously loud.
