How far away from the front crossmember is the pulley/ belt on my 73 suppose to be? I just replaced my pump but while I was doing the work I was surprised how close it is. I had to remove the brackets just to remove/install the belt. I am wondering if my motor mounts maybe have moved to create this issue. It’s been thirty plus years since I replaced the pump and don’t remember it being that close

Is the groove in your PS pump pulley in line with your crank pulley? As in, is the PS pulley all the way on the shaft?
Do you have A/C too? If so, there's an aux. small crank pulley that bolts to the front of the 2-groove pulley that must provide greater clearance.
Here are the two ways the '73 AIM shows the belt arrangement for L48 and L82 engines (It says L48, but the single illustration of an w/AC L82 is identical.)
Looks like my motor mounts are shot.
put a jack under the oil pan to take the wt off and sure enough the motor raised put about a 1/4” which made clearance at the front of the motor quite a bit.
we will see when the new mounts come in of Friday

I hope you already removed the bolt that goes through there...
This looks like a non-locking mount that GM stopped using in the years prior to '73 (~1970 as I recall). The two designs are interchangeable but the locking mounts are better in case of rubber failure — the engine can't lift up but about 1/4", pic below. With non-locking mounts there is no restriction: the accelerator linkage can jamb and the fan can hit the hood — a very bad day.
