FP2
19°C in air, 26 on track, humidity 66%
For the moment, the rain is starting up again, as predicted in the preview I gave here yesterday. Expect rain all weekend in Montreal, except perhaps on Sunday for the race.
Rain regulations 2024 about tyres, I slightly rectify what I said above: 5 intermediate vert and 2 full wet blue and obligation to return a set of full wet blue before Q if it has been used. In any case, Pirelli's full wet is totally ineffective and nobody wants it.
This is a braking-intensive circuit, and the teams arrive with set-ups that are quite specific to this circuit with its heavy braking. I really like T2, not a big brake but a nice loop.
Electrical issue for Stappen. In those conditions, Zozo is very fast
Attention, if Stappen's battery has to be changed, he risks a penalty because I think it would be his 3rd and last one allowed in the quota. The problem seems serious on Stappen's F1: nobody touches the car, it's inspected with a lamp, it's amazing!
Again 19 mn, the mechanics are now trying to dismantle La Canette's side cash with a grinder! ERS issue. The times didn't improve any further because the track was too wet! This helped Stappen, who couldn't drive any more.
All are on lonf runs to simulate race conditions.

FP3
Bull removed Stappen's engine and replaced it with one already in use, his #2, so no penalty. Electrical issue.
Temp air 20°C, track 35°, humidity 62%, wind 6,4 km/h, track dry.
few grip in this beginning of FP and Djoe in the décor, twice in the we. Albon breaks his suspension on the Champions Wall and Stappen narrowly escapes.
The Féfés are a long way off and Ham is P1, but I think some of them have hidden their game.

Q1
risk of rain 80%
See the difference between Max and Checo ! and Checo is resigned, why ?
Q2
Some drops
Q3
For the 1st stint a lot of pilots with used tyres , they seem faster than the new ! bizarre.
And amazing, the same chrono by Russy and Stappen

Start with intermediate tyres i think, wet track ! or full wet if rolling start.
Ocon, wastegate issue on the grid, the 2 Sauber start since the pit.
Amazing race, catastrophique for Féfé, Checo...no word about him !

Perez 3 grid penalty in Barcelona , Canette 25K€ : The driver brought a severely damaged car back to the pit, sowing debris on the track, on the advice of the team, all to avoid a SC entering the track, Stappen was in the lead at the time. But the attempt was in vain, as 1 lap later, Sainz and Albon collided! God, how F1 has evolved: Zandvoort 1979, Gilles Villeneuve brings back to the pit a Féfé suspension totally dislocated in 3/4 and on 2 wheels!

Quite a lot of action, and some of it was even for the lead!
Great fight between Rus and Ham.
Best race so far this season. Wouldn't bet that Perez will be around for that final year...

Perez is a real mystery to me! But what's wrong with this boy with one of the best F1 cars on the grid?
I'm also starting to wonder: will he be around in 2025?
His agent Julian Jakobi, ex-agent of Prost and Senna, has adroitly manoeuvred to impose Checo, taking advantage of the disagreement between the 2 clans Canette, Stappen and Checo being presented as the cement of the team. In short, nothing changes, RB is here without having imploded! but Checo is making things worse race after race and disappointing even his most hardened fans!

Too lazy to actually do the research, but AFAIK, prize money is doled out at the end of the season according to championship points, not just championship position? Might be wrong on that...
Might be costing the company a lot of money, son.

F1 distributes half its profits to the ten teams on the grid, amounting to one billion $, or around 904,835,000 euros in 2023. This money is distributed according to each team's constructor ranking. Féfé by virtue of its loyalty since 1950, a 5% bonus which has earned it €50 million in 2023.

Le Mans!
the name snaps in the wind like a detonation, a blast that fills the air with that perfume, the gasoline and makes you up with pellets of gomem in your hair and face, that smell of burnt brake pads and rubber, c'est si bon !
Here's a site to follow the 24h if you don't have a TV, it's a bit complex but you'll be able to manage, no login needed. https://fiawec.tv/sportitem/664480f37c66caf8ffcdba14
Let's hope the 2 TF Sport Corvettes take the flag first, but it's a long 24 hours, especially at daybreak, and these days it's raining regularly, either during the day or at night, never continuously but certainly!
What's about to become breaking news: New Way
the UK magazine BusinessF1, whose news is generally reliable and often exclusive, reveals the deal: Newey is said to have signed his contract in London at the end of April, when Vasseur stopped off in London on his way to Miami, to tie himself to the Scuderia from 2025 to 2027 in exchange for a salary of 35 million dollars a year, or over 100 million euros in total! This is unprecedented for an engineer, and even for the best drivers on the grid, but it's true that Newey's track record speaks for itself.
If the news is true, Féfé will have reconstituted a dream team: Vasseur, assisted next year by Jérôme D'Ambrosio, technical director Enrico Cardile and new performance manager Loïc Serra (ex-Merco), Leclerc and Hamilton!

Usually the final year of a specification is a "lame duck" year, as the teams prepare for the new spec. There's been enough shakeups in '24 though, that '25 is going to have plenty of things to talk about.
Thanks for the update, and have a good one,
Mike

Alarming news from France
Fact or fiction, several sources report that Renault is in talks with RB Ford, Honda, Merco and Féfé to supply engines in 2026. This would be a prelude to the sale of Enstone and the closure of the Viry-Châtillon engine plant. Renault would be reluctant to make the huge investments required. At this stage, Renault has not denied the news, but I wouldn't be surprised, as Renault is used to coming and going in F1. What a pity this team is! incapable and short-sighted management! wait and see!
