Default 23 Corvette problems.

Hi everyone, I’m new here and hoping to get some insight.

I’ve owned my Corvette since September 13, 2022—it was a birthday gift, purchased brand new. It’s a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe 2LT Z51. The car has never been tracked, never wrecked, and I’m the only one who drives it. Overall, I absolutely love it.

That said, I’ve had an ongoing issue with brake noise. I’ve taken it to the dealership multiple times, and each time they’ve applied copper paste, which temporarily helps—but the noise always returns.

Now I’m dealing with a more serious concern. About two weeks ago, the car started making a loud noise that honestly sounded like something major was about to fail. It’s been at the dealership ever since.

Today, I was told it needs a right rear CV axle (covered under the powertrain warranty), as well as a right rear strut. The car only has around 20,000 miles, so this feels like a significant repair for such low mileage.

Has anyone experienced anything similar or had these components fail this early? Ashley

There was a period of time where they had a problem with the CV joints, apparently they left a ball bearing out but I don't remember which year (but I don't think you would have made it this far if that was your problem). Other than that I wouldn't say it isn't a common problem to need the CV joint or strut replaced with your mileage.

Brake squeal is a common problem with Z51 brakes. They are designed to withstand track use so they can have problems if lightly used. When you get your car back do a series of very hard stops (but don't come to a complete stop) from about 60 mph. If the squeal goes away temporarily you will probably have to repeat this procedure periodically.

Welcome to the forum. I hope your car has been repaired to your satisfaction. Nice birthday gift. My birthday is 13 September as well.

3 year old car with 20K miles needs cv joints and struts? I've never had to replace those types of items in cars that were in the double digit years and quadruple the miles this car has.

What caught my attention was that both components that failed were 'right rear'. The failure would seem more defect related if it was just the CV axle or the strut (coilover?), not both simultaneously. And you stated that no one else has driven it so that rules out an impact or something else you might not be aware of.

Anyway, parts can fail on any vehicle prematurely; my wife's Maxima had similar mileage and I drove it one day and said to her "has the right front been clunking for long"? and she said "what clunking"? Fortunately it was replaced under warranty.

Good luck with getting it sorted out and welcome!

Brake squeal problem solved. I tried this today, my 2023 squeals when backing up.
I had the wheels off, so wiped down each rotor with this. Squeal totally gone.
We will see how long that lasts.
