I bought a repro from CC. it had a short in it that did some minor damage to my wiring (easily fixed). CC "tested" it and claimed there was nothing wrong with it, but agreed to take it back (grudgingly). I ordered the same part from Z. it worked perfectly. I just hope CC didn't resell the defective one to someone else.
Greg Thompson did great work for years but he passes away this year. No one else I know of can get the parts. The unique steel drive cable rusts and breaks, a design flaw. No one makes replacement cables (just ask Dave Strickland, he has been looking for awhile) thus the original units cannot be repaired. To find a working original, expect to pay $2000+ now....
this is the one I have. it took two tries to get a good one. one from CC and one from Zip. if after installing, you turn the key on and the antenna goes up without using the antenna switch, remove it, mine did this and overheated a wire in the back of the fuse box hot enough it melted the solder that held it in place. I was lucky it didn't burn up the wiring harness!
I don't know about the repo units. This may be the best option, a manual mast that looks like the original 66 antenna. It has the correct finial. At ZIP for $90

64-air,
Just to be clear I was looking for and found a cable for one last core. Replacement cables are on the way.
i suggest you get your facts straight before you give inaccurate information.

Hey, if a source exists, why don't you share the source for the replacement cables with everyone? The originals are very unique multi-strand steel drive cables. It is expensive old design technology that no one uses any more. The cables rust and break. All later units used a smooth nylon cord to lower mfr costs and fix the rust issue. These smooth nylon cords are incompatible with the drive motor of the C2 units.
I talked with Greg before he passed. He had a small company that would make his replacements but it went out of business during Covid. He knew of no other source. If there is a company doing them, how about sending us a link so we can check?
A Greg Thompson correctly restored unit is harder to find than gold...those are the facts.
I had my antenna restored at Suburban Auto Radio, http://www.suburbanradio.com/index.php., the contact is Mike B. I just talked with Mike and he has some parts, but as usual, no cable.

Hey 64-air,
Seems like you are the resident expert. Best of luck going forward.
