Default Chevrolet no longer able to order the blue PF64 AC Delco oil filter

So for the past week I have been trying to track down the PF64 blue ACDelco oil filter for my Stingray. All the local dealers kept telling me that it was back ordered. Finally one of the service general managers looked into it and Chevrolet is no longer ordering the blue PF64 from the supplier that made it. Looks like I will have to go aftermarket. I'm just worried that if for some reason there is a lubrication issue and I do not use the PF64 filter the warranty claim may be denied.

You could use the PF64A filter. Made in Thailand, black exterior, metal bypass valve/spring. Rock Auto has them.

Does it have the same 22 PSI bypass pressure?

Your warranty cannot be voided by using a non-AC Delco filter, so long as whatever filter you use meets the minimum spec GM calls for.

And, what are the specs for the oil filter? I think 2020-2024 Owner's Manual only indicate PF64 with no stated "specs". I can't even find a filter indicated in the 2025 and 2026 manuals. The table called Maintenance Replacement Parts seem to be missing from the 2025-2026 manual and PF64 is not mentioned. Let me know if I overlooked it - I seem to be error prone to today.

But I do agree if one used a filter that GM considered equivalent there would not be an issue.

GM Parts shows this...
The ACDelco PF64 (often corresponding to GM Part # 25206966) is a high-flow, canister-style engine oil filter designed for many modern GM vehicles. It features a 98% multi-pass filtering efficiency at 25-30 microns, a nylon poppet-style bypass valve, and an anti-drain back valve

Google AI says the following:

Yes, the ACDelco PF64A meets or exceeds the specifications of the standard PF64. It is designed as an equivalent replacement and directly matches the PF64's stringent internal requirements, including the critical 22 PSI (150 kPa) bypass valve rating and M22x1.5 thread size.

Why Choose the PF64A?
  • Direct OEM Fit: It fits the same GM vehicles (Chevrolet, Corvette, Buick, Cadillac, GMC) that called for the original PF64.
  • Bypass Pressure: Maintains the 22 PSI relief setting required for GM's high-performance engines to prevent oil starvation during cold starts or high-RPM operation.
  • Internal Upgrades: The PF64A features an updated construction, including a coil spring bypass valve and a robust anti-drainback valve.

The AC Delco on-line parts catalog can be searched for part for the C8 corvette. In this example I entered a 2022 Corvette with the 6.2l engine. It returns a list of 6 filters. I'm not saying all are ok or not ok - but they are the list of filter recommended for the Corvette by ACDelco. So..

Among them is the PF64A but there are others too. Here a couple of clips - if you click on the image it becomes more legible.
