Trying to find places to store tires is the bane of my existence.

I have 2 full sets of tire stacked up and 2 full sets of wheels.

Slowly but surely things will will into place.

It works for me perfectly, in the house secure and climate controlled. Same spot will be used when I pull the stock Speedlines and tires off of my Z06 when the new Apex Wheels go on. Keep them there until they get sold.

That's funny, I have a set of C7 replica Z51 wheels sitting in the spare bedroom (used to be daughters room) in the boxes from 2020 when I replaced the wheels on my first C7.

I don't like clutter that's why I had to find a spot that I know will be out of the way at the moment and I can switch them out when the time comes. I don't keep anything around I don't have a use for.

I have a box in my Shed of all the stock stuff that came off my Z06 when I put the Headers on with the Exhaust. The stock A.I.R. System is all there, stock Manifolds, few other things except the CATS. The only reason is because I haven't really looked into selling it and if anybody local needed it I'd just give it to them really maybe for like a 12 pack or something. I'm not greedy.

Same way here, don't want to deal with people that just want me to give them stuff when I have it for sale. So it sits.

Trust me I'm already loathing the fact of dealing with people when I put the stock Wheels & Tires forsale. I already know what I'm getting into..

Maybe that's why I want them Apex Wheels here now so I can get it over with and done..

In a perfect world, I would have bead blasted the diff case- but here we are. I didn't have a bearing set, I had already put new axle seals in before discovering the stripped stud boss, and unlike me- I decided it didn't actually matter if the diff was pretty. I'll put an RPM billet cover on and call that good enough 😊

Perfect length hardware ftw. 12pt because it's fastest. Duh

Anaerobic sealant on everything because I'll be damned if she leaves one drop of HP on the floor

Don't know how much plumbing I need, but I know how much I bought. Def gonna need more, I can feel it in my bones

I took @the_merv 's idea and jusssst had to get extra with it

I bought one of these, in red- because red is the fastest color; The Fastest M20x1.5

Pulled the magnet out with my dowel pin puller

Added a 112 o-ring to it

Installed it, torqued to eleventeen billion foot lbs

Bonus points, it's aluminum so it's even lighter, slowly helping me offset the iron block 408 I used to "completely ruin the dynamics of my car" 🙄

I'm OCD man I take the time to tuck wiring and all that little stuff that may not be seen but I know it's there. It is what it is..

Looks good like that, should hold but if for some reason if it ever backs out Red LocTite will seal it in good.

When I do mine I turn that flange down on a Lathe so I can bury it in that hole on the T56 and get it to be metal on metal, it galls it in for a perfect seal. I put black RTV on the threads to be overkill.

One I did a while back for the T56 in my Monte SS. Same idea as what's in that car and my Z06.

It sits almost flush.

Same in my Z06

Merv likes to get all the way to the chin!

The 112 o-ring has to compress .05" to get into the bore, I don't think pressure or vibration are gonna make it leak or loosen. If something bad happens I'll be sure to hide in shame and never post about it online so I can maintain my self indulgent delusion of superiority rofl

I really wish the diff looked better, but eh. Is what it is. its clean inside, and that's what matters at the end of the day. Its clean, everything is torqued to spec and despite the build quality that went into the rest of the diff, the pattern looks pretty good! The pinion gear has a chipped tooth, I think it got dropped- but it's at the back of the gear, well away from the load face- I don't think its gonna be an issue

If she whines.... just read my point about the o-ring ahaha

I get most of my cardio by running from my problems

I ended up selling my Alcoa Z wheels in under an hour on the dreaded marketplace. Even I was shocked.

Default Saving my original parts

My early days Covette mentor, George Moss, told me to never get rid of old usable parts. Unfortunately, my 17 yo self ignored that when I sold the original engine/transmission out of my ‘58 vette. I couldn’t wait to upgrade to the 327 and 4 speed!

I installed the new engine and go to hook up the clutch linkage, but couldn’t figure it out. I called George for advice. He asked me to look for a golf ball looking thing screwed into the side of the block. Told him, nope it’s not there. He said that was the pivot for the clutch linkage and I must have left it on the engine I sold. Oh, and I’ll never find another one.

DOH! Or something to that effect…

He then bailed out his young friend and told me he had one sitting around that I could have. Saved my ***! From then on I never let original parts go as I modded my vehicles.

I’ll never forget his kindness and patience with me.

Those older cars that were not as mass produced as what we have now, that's understandable.

Things nowadays I can throw a rock and hit the parts if I'm looking for something.

Except for a windshield for a C5 they tend to be a little hard to find at the moment. So no rocks thrown at that one..

I put the parts I swap out back into the boxes the new parts showed up in aha. Then I stash them and they collect dust

But if I ever need the stock diff, or prop shaft, or brakes, or *you name it*, by golly I've got it

With the parts I mentioned in my other post I have the stock Shifter in there as well, kept that because there was room in the box. I put drilled and slotted Rotors on the front with Ceramic Pads back in June 2018, turned the stock Rotors because they still had plenty of life those ended up on the front of my Monte SS.

I've kept that stuff in a box for a long time, I have no use for it but never know when somebody might. Maybe I'll get rid of it when I move it's not in the way at the moment. I just don't keep stuff around I don't have a use for why the stock Wheels and Tires will go when they do. Plenty of life left in them so perfect upgrade for a C5 Coupe or Vert, Fbody or whatever else someone might want them for.
