So I used the procedure to torque the old bolt to 240 lb ft. I'm assuming it pushed the balancer too far in. That said, how would you keep that distance with the 235 torque that the ARP bolt requires?

Did you use a balancer installation tool? Are you at the required depth?
In both my responses, I asked questions that went unanswered. If you are going to request forum members for help, at least have the courtesy to answer each question asked. I'm out. Good luck.
When the balancer is on all the way it butts up against the timing chain gear. It can’t go on too far.
The factory measurement shown is a sanity check to make sure you have it on far enough.

Does the belt not align properly?
You can see the belt riding on the outside of the summit c2501 balancer. I have the original balance bolt, and it's the same length as the ARP bolt after the washer. The balancer looks about 1/8" too far in.
I installed a Cloyes Timing Set - 9-3658TX3. Could their sprocket and oil pump gear together be 1/8" shorter? On my other C5 I just changed out the balancer and bolt and it was fine.
Say that the timing chain set is indeed shorter. Is there a 1/8" spacer I can use behind the balancer?
