More T5 install questions
I am pursuing a T5 5 speed install in my 70, originally looking for a used WC T5 with the 2.95 1st gear... not allot out there in either GM or Ford.
Started talking with Silver Sport and got some quotes on new install package and seriously considering it.
In their quote is a full 10 spline 11" clutch assmebly with new flywheel... its pricey, can I simply purchase an 11" clutch kit for that input shaft and use my current 11" flywheel?
I do plan on using my bellhousing with the adapter plate... will I still need to check for bellhousing centering/run out to the new pilot bearing?
Also any idea if I can get that T5 trans in without removing crossmember... I know I can remove my muncie but not sure if the T5 will go in with some finessing
Thanks in advance
What is the input shaft diameter of the T5 they'll sell you?
I have a brand new 10 spline 1 1/8" clutch in my car, I'd like to keep it if I can find a trans with the same input shaft.
They sell absolutely everything for the install needed including an already cut ready to install drive shaft
I attempted to find the right used T5 and they are out there but I want a World Class and really need the 2.95 1st gear (1352-000) for my rear ratio and those are like hens teeth out there... GM didn't make the WC till 88 and Ford only made the T5z 2.95 1st gear in the SVO
by the time I find one and have it gone through I might as well purchase a brand new one for $2k with free shipping, will have one more talk with SST tomorrow and likely order.
Appears both SST and American Powertrain both sell complete kits
