The old rivets. I used this location to drill the holes to hold the new spring steel. Drilling the bezel was easy. Drilling the spring steel was quite the biatch...but got it done.

I used some short phillips head screws with fairly flat heads and then dremelled the extra length off the opposite side. Needed to lop off the extra length for door travel.

Not the best pic, but you can see the spring steel and the heads of the screws here. I made the angle cut on the spring because it was needed to the door lever swing arc. I expected this-- and I could have relocated the spring but I wanted to stay in the original rivet centers. Worse comes to worse I'll go spend another 89 cents and redrill the holes in the spring steel.
