Corvette C6 Z06 Has Issues at the ‘Ring

The infamous Nurburgring. It’s called the Green Hell for a reason, and that reason is because over the entire course — the hundreds of tight turns, blind crests, and gravel traps — cars have a tendency to not stay on the track. Many don’t make it back to the pits at all. And when they do go off, which is often, things don’t go well for the driver.

Even contemplating lapping the Nurburgring should bring a wave of fear to your mind. Without that fear, you’d be too cocky and would most likely cause a crash, which is what appears to have happened to this poor C6 Corvette Z06. Well maybe not cockiness exactly.

As you’ll see in the video below, the Z06 was in the middle of passing by an Opel Kadett when it appears that the left rear wheel begins to come loose. Then as the Corvette passes the Opel, the wheel decides it’s had enough punishment and leaves the car. The car runs over its own tire, and is properly launched into the air and into the side of the retaining wall. Thankfully, it doesn’t appear that the driver was hurt, and the little Opel it was passing escaped the situation unscathed.

Remember people, if you’re going to be doing some hard driving, it pays to go over your car first to make sure everything is locked up tight. The Nurburgring is a hell of a test bed to get something wrong.
