Default What is wrong with SPEED channel? What is wrong with America?

Cut away from the most prestigous race in the WORLD, the 24 hours of Le Mans, to cover NASCAR PRACTICE!!!?? What is SPEED channel thinking? I guess thats what America wants to see.

It's because "America" would rather watch moving billboards run in circles for several hours than watch real cars on a real race track.

Blame Fox.

Eurosport will cover the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 2008-2010. Speed TV gets all of the tv signal stuff through them except for the commentary and pit lane stuff.

It all comes down to $$$$...

There is more revenue from
None
Athletic
Sport
Centered
Around
Rednecks
fans watching a bunch of cars turning left for 3 to 4 hours. And there are more crashes in NASCAR per mile driven.

It is driven by money. Speed has several days of NASCAR coverage every week - multiple shows with different names, but the same commentators, the same talk, over and over. The sponsors/advertisers are footing the bill. I don't mind a little Cup coverage and I watch most of the races, but I wish sports cars got at least equal coverage, and for LeMans there should be a week's worth of special coverage. I guess the money just isn't there, and I guess the American market just isn't there either (the ignorance of the masses...). Too bad.

I would rather watch grass grow than watch A$$car. You cant get close to the cars and the drivers, you would think they were in office. What a joke. I went to Talladega last year and drove one of the cars at Dale J school. It was`sponsered by cystic fibrosis. You got 10 laps with an instructor. At the end the instructor asked how was it. I told him tha it was the most boring thing that I had ever done. He said "really?' and I asked him if he had ever road raced and he said "no". No work involved , I am sure that it is a little different with 42 other cars on track but just boring to watch.

Does anyone remember the first year Speedchannel was on the air and they carried the 24 Hours of LeMans in it's entirety? I'm sure I'm not the only one who watched the entire thing live. It was pure bliss for a racing enthusiast.

What sucks isn't that they cut over speed's broadcast to nascow (its their station, they want the $, they can do whatever they want), but that they don't offer a live stream through the web.

I'd _PAY_ to have a 24hr live stream of this, but noooo. You can pay for the eurosport coverage, but they don't offer it in the states.
