Default 5 or 6 point harnesses?

Are 6 point harnesses really necessary? If so, why? No luck with the search feature.

I don't have that problem since my wife started keeping mine in her purse along with my money. Only due to expensive hobbies and race tires the money fits in a change purse. Ed

After a very light tap of the wall, my nuts were sore for 3 days. I'm getting 6pts next.

With the Teamtech Jetpilot, the lower part of the harness is like a rock climbing or parachute harness and not only is it safer but provides lateral support as well as for and aft. But, to answer the original question, don't even consider a 5 point unless you want to be a Vienna Choir boy.

I love my JetPilot, but damn I wish it was FIA... I need to send it back for a re-cert already to put one in the RX7. :-(

Get a 6-point that is specifically designed to use with a HANS device and get a HANS! FIA approved only and install exactly to manufacurers specifications/instructions. I have seen bad installation information on this forum...

A six point when installed and used properly will protect the family jewels and provide lateral support.

Good Luck!

I am by no means an expert racer, but I am pretty good at that whole engineering thing. There are a LOT of improper installations on here. The most common that I have seen is mounting the sub belt(s) way too far forward.

Are you back on the track yet? Also, I would like some info on those seats.

Seats are Recaro Pole Position. Note how both the shoulder AND hip belts are routed through the seat. Shoulders held back, hips held down and back. Be certain to route, connect and adjust the belts exactly as defined by the manufacturer.

Note the poor position of the stock seatbelt receptacle (red) in the photo. It is now also run through the side hole in the seat.

$$$ for tires is the main thing keeping me away from the track at $300-$400 per day. Exploring slip angle and throttle steering is way fun but expensive! Twelve days so far this year (including the two with the Camaro).

How goes the motor project?

Dean
