C6 Z06 Setup Suggestions Needed - AS
#21
Didn't the 427 have the same options as the z06 for wheels? If so 18/19s were available, and you can go +1/-1... and 18/18, you are still an underdog to the c6z (to a point)... you shouldn't raise any concerns running the same tire setup the rest of AS (c6z/427). Welcome to AStreet, it's been a blast so far.

Sorry, I saw 427 and was thinking Z. Wouldn't have mattered as I didn't realize the 427's came with bigger wheels. I pulled an options brochure and it seems the 18/19 combo was not available. Definitely confirm that.
As mentioned, you don't want a top tier tire on one end and a second tier on the other. When I had my Z, (pre Rival-S) I ran ZII SS's up front and Re-11's in the rear. At least performance was close.
Tire options for bigger wheels are getting better and should continue to improve.

Just bought another pair of RE71R 305/30/19 for the rear. I'll test both this weekend. So 305/30/19 all around. But mixed wheels.

Don't mix the slower street tires with either the 71R or Rival S. You'll end up silly loose if you put the slower tire on the back. Vice versa if you put it on the front. Huge difference in grip level. 3 options are,
1) stick with a slower tire like you have now
2) 305/30/19's 71R all around (or maybe the 275/285 on front, not sure which)
3) Go to 18's all around with ForgeStar wheels and run 275/335 Rivals S.

I have run my C6 Z06 for the last two years on stock wheels with PSS's in 285/345 in cam-s and my plan is to upgrade this winter to your option 3 to 18" all around with rival s tires in 315/335 but when I look at the height they are only about 1/4" difference which I'm afraid is going to mess with active handling.. will it cause a problem with this? My suspension is stock for now, going with a strano bar this weekend a guy has that's going to let me try it out. Plan on shocks this winter also...

I would too, but I can't legally in AS. Now i have a complete set of 305/30/19 RE71R front and rear. Does the active handling throw errors if you turn it all off? After EVO school, I told to turn it all off and now I always do. I've only spun twice since. Recently I have not and I have been working up the PAX. The next step Pinski.

I run in Houston SCCA too (Red C7) what other tires have you run on? I'd like to know how much of a difference the RE71R's are compared to the Pilot Super Sports that come on the C7s. That's what I've been using and seem to have been holding my own in SS against cars with the REs.
