SBC hi-torque starter wiring question
I've installed a new hi-torque starter on my 66 with a new stroker 383 motor and the new HT starter only has one post for the small wires. I had a red (outer) and purple (inner) wires connected on my old starter on the small posts. Which wire do I use for the single post on the new starter? I'm installing a MDS electronic distributor with this new motor. Please advise and thanks in advance for your response!

I don't know anything about your starter, most "High Torque" starters I am aware of are just longer than regular starters and work the same with the solenoid on top. This starter you have sounds aftermarket.
Which ever wire has power to it when you turn the key to start, should be the small wire you use on the small terminal. The other wire would be a ballast resistor bypass wire.
I am assuming you have eliminated any ballast resistor that may have originally been on the car, with the new distributor and coil installation.
