Silver Sport magnum t-56 6 speed for a 1968 corvette
Has anyone with a 68 installed a tremec 6-speed transmission and the pros and cons of doing it. Apparently Silver Sport Transmissions have a perfect kit that has the transmission, crossmember, driveshaft and the complete kit to make this conversion. The price is costly, but the 6 speed overdrive might be worth it
I Would just like to know if any of the older C3's have done this and how it
worked for them.

I converted my '69 and my '72 about ten years ago. I used the modified Viper box. It has a mechanical speedometer output which is nice to have. This version bolts up to a typical old four speed bell housing. I converted the cars to have removable crossmembers and added a fiberglass "bump" to the floors near the passenger seat to clear the yoke (Mark Williams 1350 quick release) and new driveshafts from a local shop. A lot of little stuff but not rocket science. I'm in the process of replacing the 383 with an LS3 in the '69.

I converted my 78 TH350 to a T56 magnum
Here are my notes. Even with a complete kit there will be problems to solve. You may still have drive line angle problems with any of the kits because the T56 Magnum is a longer transmission.
