Default '69 Rear Tires & Rallys

I have a stock '69, very original. I have the standard Goodrich TAs raised white letter 70 series radials on the original 15X8 Rally wheels.

I'd like to put 60-series tires on the rear, just to make it a little more "Race-Ready" looking.

Can I put 60 series tires on the stock Rallys?

If not, what size repro Rallys do I need?

And last, do the Goodrich TAs come in 60 series size so they'll all look matched?

Thanks, guys.

on my 69 i have 275-60-15 goodrich ta's on the standard rally wheels on the rear. i do have one inch spacers to keep them away from the trailing arms.
goodrich has the tires listed at their website. they show wheel diameter, tire diameter, tire widths, and recommended wheel widths for their tire sizes.

Just remember when you change the tire size you may be changing the diameter which will affect the speedometer. If you want to keep the speedo right you need to make sure the diameter of the tire is the same. So going from a 70 to a 60 you will need to go to a wider tire.
example:
P225/70R15 diameter is 27.44"
P225/60R15 diameter is only 25.63"
Where a P255/60R15 diameter is 27.05"

The 255 would be close to the 225 but the tire may start rubbing on other parts of the car.

Nice car. I run 255-60R15 on stock 8 in. wheels with NO rubbing issues. I do however run a shortened TRW composite spring.

You can safely put 235R6015's on your car with no rubbing in front. Or you can put 235's in front and up to 255's in back...but then you can't rotate front/rear tires. You can order BFG T/A Radial tires in 235 or larger widths online at Sam's Club and pick them up [or have them installed] when they call to tell you they're in.

thanks gentlemen

To confirm, since I only want to put the 60's on the back, I can do the 255/60R15 on my standard Rallys, and there will be no fit issues or rubbing issues, and the diameter is very close to the 70's, is that all accurate?

How wide (approx) are the Goodrich 255/60R15? Are they a more "rectangular" profile tire than the 70's?

thanks again

IMO, 245/60 is the best 15in size available for these cars.

Here are 245/60's on all 4 corners on my '69 - I don't know why you would want to go larger in 15 in
