P215/70R15 is the closest you'll get to the original F70-15 tires. I have them (Coopers) on my car and they fill the fender wells very nicely. Go with that size and you'll have no problems with clearances.

Hi r,
Rr is right about the 215-70 being the present day equivalent of the original F70-15 tires.
But, I like the 225-70 tire size better when choosing a radial tire. This is because the original bias-ply tire had very 'square' shoulders on it and filled the wheel opening a little better than a radial 215-70 does because the radial design tire has 'rounder' shoulders.
It's not much of a difference, but I think it's enough so that it's noticeable.
Something to consider?
Regards,
Alan

thanks for your help on what size redlines to purchase. I will consider both sizes when I get to Carlisle next month
