Default new fuel sending unit not accurate-HELP!

new tank and sending unit now guage reads about half of what it should and ideas as to how to recalibrate sender? It's a 70 BB vert auto, You guys rule, thanks in advance for assistance. Tim.

Make sure that all wiring is correct, especially the ground. Willcox has an excellent write up on testing the fuel gauge circuit.

Pull the ohms wire off the sender and take a ohms reading.... see if that reading matches up with the amount of fuel in the car. 0 - 90 ohms is the scale with 45 ohms being about 1/2 way... I say about because it can and usually will put you over 1/2 tank just as 90 ohms will usually put you a bit over full. Then take a look at the info below.

On my recently acquired 72 cpe, my fuel guage reads full when full, but reads empty when 1/2 full. I have checked some preliminary things, but don't want to purchase anything without further info. Anyone run into this problem before?

mmore: same here(1977), at full it reads above full, and reads a little below half when empty (the low fuel light never comes on).

Not quite the same problem. When I'm 1/2 full the guage reads empty. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the sending unit or guage. Can someone help??
