MANY Pictures of new 1996 Comp Yellow LT4 with DRM 383
The weather finally broke and I got some pictures of my new Corvette. I wish I could get a sound clip of the car, it really sounds great with the cam and exhaust setup. I'm not real good at taking pictures, so please excuse my skills.
I'd also like to get an idea if ya'll like the glass top or the yellow hard top better. Please let me know!!
More details of the car and modifications:
1996 LT4
24,500 miles
5,000 +- miles on motor and clutch
PKE That STILL Works
DRM 383 (All forged with ROSS pistons)
Centerforce Clutch
Ported heads
Ported Intake
58 mm TB
Nitrous Express system (multiple jet capability, 75 jet currently installed)
Bottle Warmer
MSD Opti
MSD Digital 6 Ignition
FJO Progressive Controller
Fuel Pressure Regulators
Miezer Heavy Duty Water Pump
Line Lock
LT Headers
Random Cats
Power Effects Mufflers
3" Stainless Tubes
Shift Light in Dash
Fuel and Nitrous Pressure Gages
GS Wheels with 315/35/ZR17 Rear and 285/40/ZR17 front
Hurst Shifter
The car is a real hoot to drive!! I probably will never use the NOS system, but even without it, the car is a handful.

Awesome ride -- I'd have a real hard time keeping it to such low miles.
Since you asked, I think the yellow top looks better, but I think its more fun (and more headroom) to use the glass top (which looks plenty nice)

Here is the story or history that the previous owner told me about the car. The previous owner stated that he purchased it from the original owner (someone in PA). This person purchased it from GM after it was used as a program car with 19k miles on it (1998ish). That person put in the Rippie motor and clutch, then put 400 miles on it until he sold it in 2005 - 2006. The person I purchased it from did the other modifications and put about 5k miles on it.
From previous posts, posted by the previous owner, the car turns high 11's to low 12's on motor (ET Streets). On 75 shot, it did low to mid 11's. On a 200 shot, it was pushing into the 10's. Top end is over 180.
While I own it, I will not push it to this extreme. On street tires, it is a hoot! You really don't drive this car, you point it and hope it stays that way (through 1st).
I will drive it, but it will live more of a show car life (less than 3k miles per year).

Nice and clean everywhere..nice detail on the engine work..
I personally like the glass top it seems to break up the yellow a bit and goes well with the black rims...Just a nice ride you got there...

Long time ago I read about approx 100-124 1996, Comp Yellow C4 with Black 5 Spoke wheels were built. Are those wheels originals or were installed aftermarket?
Your Vette looks great! The NOS looks... persuasive

Very, very sweet....
I personally like the glass top look since you have black wheels...
If you are ever up in the St. Louis area, look me up...

My car wants to be like yours when it grows up!
I like the glass top in the winter and the hardtop in the summer(it's too damn hot with the glass top). But I really prefer it with the top out!
Beautifull work. You did'nt ask but I would make one change. The valve covers take away from the look of the engine. They look out of place to me.The intake painted body color looks great. With the stock composite or any black VC the intake would stand out even more.

You are correct about production numbers. 103 Comp Yellow LT4 Coupes were made with black interior. I used to own the only Comp Yellow LT4 Coupe with gray interior and F45 suspension. Here are the production numbers:

Riks40, I'll certainly do that. This car could make it to St. Louis sometime. Let me know if there are any free shine-n-show events and my wife and I will get up there.
96LT4, I agree with you 100%. This winter I'm going to dress up the motor, but I'm having trouble finding stock LT4 fuel rail covers. Any ideas? Ecklers has LT1 covers, but I'd like to find the LT4's.

Andrew,
Nice car! I like the looks of the unique valve covers. My 96 has also been up to DRM and had a few goodies added. Sometime when your in Columbia, look me up. I would like to see your car.

Very nice ride! It looks great with either top. I prefer the solid top for driving though, it stiffens up the chassis flex considerably.

Great looking Vette!
I personnaly think the tinted top looks much btter than the solid top. It accents the CY paint like the wheels and interior do.
Just curious... do you regret selling your Comp Yelllow/Gray LT4 is that why you bought another CY Vette?
The reason I ask is I sold a 5k mile 1989 TTA and I still miss that car. I know I will never be able to get one like I had.
Again, sweet ride.

Looks like you have another nice Yellow LT4 there Andrew!
There will be a car show here in downtown Rolla next Saturday. I won't be there though, as Hot Rod Power Tour kicks off in Little Rock next Saturday.
Wife will probably take my truck downtown though.

Thanks for the kind words folks!
Leader One, I wasn't really looking for another CY C4, I was looking for another LT4 car and this one just happen to be the right car for me. However, I did miss owning a C4. Even though I don't get that much time to enjoy it, I still enjoy it and my wife and daughter wanted me to find another one. If they didn't support the purchase, I would not have purchased another, but I would still have missed it! There is just something about the C4 that I like and the car scratches an itch that other cars do not. Just my opinion.
If anyone wants to coordinate a meet, count me in! A group cruise down 94 would be a blast!!
RollaLT4, I'd love to get down there but I'm headed to Table Rock Lake with my wife and daughter next weekend. The power tour sounds like a ball. Is there another show in Rolla? If not, come to JC to a cruise in. They are fun and free. There was one tonight and I just got home.
