C4 Odometer Issue
Hello. I have a 1990 C4. Purchased in Sept with 77,100 miles. Had some issues with headlights and idiot lights in instrument panel.
Body control module, headlight module were replaced. Now the odometer reads 236,000 miles. Any idea what could have happened to the odometer? Thanks!

I don't think they will be able to change the mileage on those.
That would make it way to easy for odometer fraud.

I've heard that the odometer reading in the BCM can be changed, but it's something that typical auto repair shops really can't do on their own. And there are not many sources for that job.
A good shop would have told you that a BCM swap would result in a different mileage reading. The BCM also has the vehicle VIN number of the donor vehicle locked into the chip. Certain options use the BCM. For example the FX3 Selective Ride Control uses the BCM to store error codes specific to FX3. If you car didn't have that option, it's possible that you may see the Service SRC light come on.
A completely remanufactured BCM will have a zero odometer reading. Those units can have the correct odometer reading for the car uploaded to it, but it has to be done within the first 100 miles after installation. Beyond that point, the BCM locks out any attempt to enter a mileage figure.

Thanks for all your responses. Didn't really like the answers....lol, but at least I learned something today and know what's going on with the mileage now. If I want to get it corrected sounds like I'll have to bite the bullet and get another module, have it programmed; since I've driven the car about 250 miles since the repairs. Thanks again for all your help!
