Default 383 build cam question

Ok guys I'm getting ready to do the ole 383 build. I still have this 230/236 112 lsa cam. It has good power in the upper rpm range, but not so in the lower. I like the sound of this cam and the upper rpm power however I'm not going to be doing any racing maybe a trip to the drag strip every now and than. My question is from those with experience should I dump this cam and go with something different or stick with it. Is there a better over all cam that will work good through out the rpm range with a 383?
My lt1 mods we be:
Cam?
Long tubes
52mm tb
30lb injectors
Ported stock heads with larger valves beehive springs
Ported intake
1.6 rockers
3.07 rear stock was 2.59 auto
Custom tune
383 stroker kit
Any thoughts?

..... If your experience with that cam was limited to a 350 inch motor , stick with it for the 383 ... the extra cubes will contribute to the bottom rpm performance ..............

if youre going to keep that rearend gear def go smaller
Youll hear a lot of recommendations Id go maybe 8-10 deg smaller be much more driveable and the power will come on earlier

If you geared it more and put more converter to it the 280 would be a hell of a lot of fun.

It sure is a small world. I'm in the process of doing a rebuild similar to yours in a lot of respects and, like you, have been on the fence about cam specs. After exchanging a lot of emails with Lloyd Elliott, Karl Ellwein and Ed Wright, I settled on 231/239, .571"/.587" and 112 LSA. Our cars do have a couple of important differences - converter and gears. I'm replacing my 2500 B&M with a 3200 piece from Vigilante and also run 3.54 gears. I don't know what converter you're using, but your cam specs suggest that stiffer gearing and maybe a different converter might be the answer. I hope to have mine back on the road before Xmas, so we'll see how it likes the bigger cam. I've been using the LT-4 hot cam, but with the extra cubic inches the new one should work fine. I'll keep you posted. Good luck with your project.

My hope is that what C409 is saying is correct. The 383 should give me what the 350 wasnt giving on the low end with this cam. The torque convertor Ill be using is a 2200-2500. It sounds like all you guys could be correct to some degree. I might just keep it and see what happens. Im not going to be doing any racing with it so it worth a shot I guess. I was considering dropping the rear down to a 3.54 instead of the 3.07, but this 3.07 feels pretty good with an auto instead of the stock 2.59. Most likely I will have this build on a dyno late this winter. I will share the numbers good or bad.

..... If it was a TPI I would have recommended smaller ... but a 383 LT1 with long tubes should enjoy that cam ..........

Initially, I also dropped down from the stock 2.59 gears to 3.07, but after installing the hot cam I decided to go down to 3.54. I'm glad I did ... it's a night-and-day difference. Some people even claim the difference from 3.54 to 3.73 is quite noticeable, but I doubt it would be on a lightly modified motor.
