Default LT1 to LS1 in a 1994 C4 info needed

How difficult is it? From the way people talk it sounds easy but nothing is usually easy.

I have a lead on a LS1 out of a Camaro with wiring harness cheap and am considering doing the swap.

It's not easy. If it was a lot of us would have already done it.

Heres a nice howto.

Its not really that hard converting lt1 firebird and Camaros over to ls1's so I doubt it would be that hard to do a c4. Actually would probably be easier at least from a room stand point.

Is it an automatic or a manual transmission? I don't think the Camaro accessories will fit, and you will need to use C5 accessories. However you can try them if you get them.

I would not say it's hard, but remember easy or hard is perspective. For me making a wiring harness is easy it just takes time.

I don't have a complete parts list yet. I will when I get my car put back together, but the while I'm at it's is keeping it apart.

So far I like my 94 LT1 in stock form. I was contemplating a C6 or C7 until I looked into the 2016 Mustang GT350.

My fear is the optispark going out and ending up having to replace it time and time again with aftermarket part. I have never owned a car that had critical parts unavailable at the dealership and I have read too many threads about people getting stranded miles from home because of the optispark.

That is an incredibly unnecessary fear. I've replaced mine once...original lasted ~155k, car has ~180k now. Even if I were to have to replace again, it's a pretty easy, 1 hour job...certainly not in the realm of jobs that would cause one to ponder an engine swap!

Really? I've read a few. Maybe 5 or so, where people were actually stranded some where, and I've been on here a long time. It's not an epidemic...it's just something that any LTx owner should be cognizant of. Not changing engines b/c of it.
