Default '96 Wipers won't turn off

Hello all. My wipers work fine, but when I turn them off, they keep running in slow speed until I turn the ignition off. At that time they stop where they are. When I turn the ignition back on, the wipers park as they should.

Any ideas where I should start with this?

wiper motor cover, poor connection, or corrosion between cover and motor is where I would look.

I am in the same boat. I have to turn car off to have them go to park. I replaced "park" switch? inside motor. I need to find a cover as I believe it can cause it to not work too. Mine is cleaned, and the cover is the last bit to check for me.
Not sure about in column though, can someone enlighten us on that too.

I had the same problem. Fixed it be replacing the wiper motor cover as suggested. Make sure you get the right style cam. Mine was the earlier style. I imagine yours is probably the later style. Good luck!

I think if you clean the contacts and switches in the cover, it might fix the problem. I'm heading for that repair myself and this is what I have heard that works.
