Half-way Antenna
I need help with my antenna. I have a 1993 coupe with a power antenna that doesn't retract all the way. It says up about 3 inches. I purchased a new antenna mast since the antenna motor still extends and retracts the antenna. The instructions said to remove the rubber grommet and plastic nut, both of which went fine. The instructions then said to turn on the radio and let the antenna extract itself from the motor. This is where I have the probelm, the antenna mast won't extract from the motor housing. I gave it a light tug, per the instructions, but that didn't do anything. I know this is a common problem, so I'm hoping I somebody can help. Thanks.

I ended up replacing the entire unit as the replacement mast techinque did not work for me. If you want some help with the procedure, IM me and I can walk you through it. :)

Re: Half-way Antenna (cprgmr)
mine does the same thing, but I attribute it to a bent mast. I can see the kink in it. I worked it out a little, and now it will drop to about 5", where before it would retract only half way. I plan to by a new mast myself.
Good luck!

You've got a section of the old mast broken off inside your motor. You'll have to remove your new mast, open the motor casing up, remove the broken section of ribbon, re-install your motor, then insert your new mast. I did this about two years ago on my 92 and it's worked fine ever since.
Go into C-4 tech tips and find the article I wrote titled, "How To Replace the Power Antenna Motor on 1994-1996 Corvettes and holler at me if you need any help!
