Default Will the BBK Cold Air Intake increase Horse Power by 10-15 RWHP?

I am thinking of purchasing the BBK Cold Air Intake... Is it true that it can add 10-15 RWHP? If not what is the true HP it should add on a stock LS1? Thank you.....

This is their add:

Cold air intakes are one of the least expensive upgrades on a Corvette that provide the best results. For about the same price of a cheap plastic cold air intake, you can purchase this new, lightweight aluminum BBK Cold Air Intake. Any racer should know that the colder the air in the intake, the better the output. This intake adds between 10 and 15 rear-wheel horsepower.

Not only does this BBK Corvette Cold Air Intake provide a great performance increase, but it has show-stopping looks as well. When looking for Cold Air Intakes, BBK is a great choice.

I am going to jump right out here and say no. I went and looked up the BBK air intake, and it appears to be nothing more then a new airbridge with a air filter stuck on it. I don't see it getting any cold air, as it is inside the engine compartment area. I would say it may flow a little more air than the stock unit, but I cannot see a 10-15 hp gain.

the 10-15 rwhp gains are only fully realized when the intake is coupled with another supporting mod...a performance hood seal.

You want to add HP? How much? What's your budget? What trans do you have?

IOW, list out your goals/aspirations along with you vehicle info. and make this easy.

You could also do a search on these topics as they've been asked and answered Ad nauseam.

On my mustang I had the following

302 Blocked that was blue printed and Balanced to a 306, Senior Dart Heads with a 3 angle valve job, Upper and lower intake was ported, 42 pound injectors, Comp cam, Ford Racing Push Rods, Ford Racing hydraulic roller lift kit, Pro Comp Roller Rockers, Ford Racing Timing chain set, 76mm mass air meter, 2 fuel pumps, Vortech Supercharger R trim with a 14 pound pulley, K&N Cool air Intake, southside suspension, MSD ignition which I located on the passenger floor, C4 Automatic transmission with reverse shift pattern, Transmission Cooler, 3500 stall convertor.. I know I am forgetting some other stuff... But the car had 525 RWHP.

I dont want to do anything like this to the Corvette... I am just looking to add some bolt on to increase the performance What ideals would you say? I want possible 400hp...

I don't know the horsepower increase, but I still think it's one of the best looking available.

A sure fire way to get that much increase, without serious mods, is a dyno and/or street tune! Put in a 160 t'stat and readjust the fans and it'll be a LOT better than stock. You prolly gain as much HP from a Z06 intake box as the BBK, and it's cheaper!

But add a Performance hood seal and you would be close to 15hp.

This cracks me up. So you made 525 rwhp on your mustang; how many bolt ons did you use to get there (sans the SC)?

I think you'll find the Vette engine to be of the same internal combustion variety and will respond very well to the types of mods (engine) you performed in the past.

As a matter of fact, perhaps the SC is the best route as you seem to only be interested in bolt ons.

Check out the FI/Nitrous section. There are a lot of people that have installed those (as well as turbos) that daily drive them, tons of info., dyno sheets, etc. You'll find H/C combo info there as well as in the Tech section.
